Calendar-EcoAction-2026-10-12.png

The EcoAction Committee of the Green Party of the United States, with assistance from the Coordinated Campaign Committee, is organizing webinars to highlight the ecological agenda of various Green Party candidates. The Green Party is running more than 200 candidates nationwide for local, state, and federal office. Key issues include an ecosocialist Green New Deal to respond to the climate emergency; a halt to AI data centers; Rights of Nature; a halt to single use plastics; and promotion of agroecology.

The upcoming webinar will take place on Monday, October 12 at 8 PM ET.

Candidates on the Oct. 12th webinar include Ngone Niang, Minnesota State Senate District 39; Andy Ellis, Governor of Maryland; Matthew Arndt, Wisconsin’s 6th Congressional District; Justin Filip, Oregon’s Congressional District 4; Michael Dublin, US Senate North Carolina; and Keith O. Williams, Alabama House District 55.

Background material for EcoAction is available here, including talking points on our issues and why we oppose hyperscale data centers. You can see our video from our first candidate webinar on Sept. 14 here.

Ngone Niang, Minnesota State Senate District 39. A first-generation Senegalese American, mother of two, community organizer, and political scientist, Ngone brings experience across workforce development, disability services, youth leadership, food access, and community advocacy. Ngone’s campaign focuses on the basic systems people depend on every day: affordable housing, food security, clean and secure water, livable wages, accessible healthcare, and strong opportunities for young people. Her work on water examines the connections between clean water access, aging infrastructure, agriculture, energy demands, climate resilience, public health, and cybersecurity.

Andy Ellis for Governor of Maryland. Andy is calling for an environmental and climate state of energy and a green new deal for Maryland. Andy has called for a ban on data centers. Maryland’s communities, our water, and the health of every person statewide are under attack by trillion-dollar tech firms and the ultra-wealthy.  Data centers cause skyrocketing electricity bills, create undue pressure on public infrastructure, and poison natural resources and water. Ellis wants an equitable, community-focused economy to spread wealth, power, and opportunity to more Marylanders than ever before. He also has a plan for a Maryland model of multiparty and grassroots democracy, ending the corruption of the two-party system.

Matthew Arndt is the Green Party candidate for Wisconsin’s 6th Congressional District. His campaign is centered on challenging concentrated corporate and political power and building an economy that serves working people, communities, and the environment rather than Wall Street, monopolies, and the permanent war economy. Environmental protection is an important part of his campaign. One of my major positions is halting the rapid expansion of massive AI and data centers that consume enormous amounts of electricity and water while shifting infrastructure costs and environmental consequences onto surrounding communities.

Justin Filip, Oregon’s Congressional District 4. Justin is a graduate of the University of Oregon and currently serves as the Secretary of the Pacific Green Party. In April of 2024, Justin, along with other concerned faculty and staff at the University of Oregon, founded the UO Faculty and Staff for Justice in Palestine to help support and protect the student protesters. Justin's top priorities include ending the genocide in Palestine and reining in our military spending, bringing federal dollars back to Oregon’s Congressional District 4 to help address the housing and unhoused crisis, and ensuring strong protections for our federal lands. A national climate emergency should be declared, establishing the foundation for a Real Green New Deal that prioritizes sustainable development, social equity, and economic resilience. Fossil fuel extraction practices such as fracking should be banned, and all subsidies to the fossil fuel industry eliminated.

Michael Dublin, US Senate, North Carolina. Michael is a native North Carolinian, a public school educator, a veteran, and a lifelong community activist. For more than two decades, Michael has also led a prison ministry, walking with those our society too often forgets. Michael is the only candidate in the race who refuses all corporate donations because he stands for the people, not the corporations. He stands for a Green New Deal featuring a unionized, living-wage green jobs program. Dublin supports giving all workers in polluting industries the option of a union job building green infrastructure with no loss of pay, benefits, or seniority. Public Ownership: He supports banning new oil and gas drilling and taking the top polluting companies into democratic public ownership. I stand for a democratically planned transition to 100% renewable energy. He supports Abolishing ICE.

Keith O. Williams is an independent write-in candidate for Alabama House District 55 running a community-centered campaign focused on affordability, accountability, and making state government more responsive to the people it serves. A longtime community advocate, Williams has worked with residents, neighborhood organizations, faith communities, and civic groups on issues ranging from the rising cost of living and public utilities to government transparency, public safety, healthcare, education, and voting rights. His advocacy has included involvement in discussions surrounding data-center development, water and utility accountability, neighborhood infrastructure, and the long-term impact of development decisions on residents. His campaign seeks practical policies that strengthen communities, protect public resources, and make Alabama more affordable and sustainable for working families.
