Show your Green on MLK Day, January 20, 2025
January 20, 2025 is Martin Luther King Day, a federal holiday, and a time to support the ideas that Dr. King promoted, including anti-racism, social justice, and peace. There will be events happening throughout Tennessee, beginning on January 18, and continuing.
Thanks to Amber from the Knoxville area for alerting us to the People's March, which will be happening in four Tennessee communities, Clarksville, Nashville, and Cookeville on January 18 and in Knoxville on January 19. For more information, check out https://map.peoplesmarch.com/local. Amber points out that these marches are smaller than some, but they are more accessible to those who live far from the centers of power and cannot travel to the state or national capital to participate.
In addition, there are going to be marches on MLK Day itself. Nashville always has a good crowd, marching from Jefferson St. to the Gentry Center at Tennessee State University. The march begins at 9am at Jefferson Street Missionary Baptist Church, 2708 Jefferson St. and is followed by a program at 10am at TSU. See https://mlkdaynashville.com/2025-event-schedule/#event1036 for more details.
If you participate in marches or other activities this weekend, be sure to wear your Green Party swag (a button, a T-shirt, a cap, whatever you have) so that you can connect with other Greens and spread the word about our party.
