In the wee hours of Saturday morning, the US Senate voted to pass a tax overhaul bill that will hasten our economic spiral. We know that our government has been sold to the highest bidder and that we need systemic changes. But for the next few days we need to focus on one thing only: making sure this tax bill does NOT pass.

If you haven't had the chance to see any of the details, it will:

• increase our deficit. 
• devastate people with disabilities.
• actually increase taxes for people making under $200,000 a year.
• and many other disastrous effects on those who are not rich.

The Green Party of Monroe County is committed to continuing to give you better choices at the ballot, but right now everyone needs to come together to stop this egregious corporate giveaway. This bill has passed the Senate, but not the House. Below are key Republican representatives who need to hear from their constituents. Monroe County's Congressperson will probably not be voting for this monstrosity, but those in other districts will.

Please look at the following members of Congress. If you have friends and family in any of these districts, please contact them immediately to inspire them to call their representatives to tell them NOT to vote for the Tax and Jobs Act. In fact, if you have friends in ANY districts represented in Congress by a Republican, encourage them to call.

“Hi, my name is _____ and I am calling to ask you to say NO to the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act. It will take money away from people with disabilities and the support we need, drive up the deficit, and put more people in poverty.”
