Thank You from the Baltimore Greens
Let me start off by saying thank you. Thank you to the candidates who stepped up and put their names on the ballot, to the volunteers and campaign staff that worked tirelessly to support those candidates, and to the voters who cast a ballot.
The past year has been an amazing experience, the Baltimore Green Party and the Maryland Green Party have grown in size, capacity, registration, recognition, and influence. Here in Baltimore we ran 2 city wide candidates and 5 city council seats. Throughout Maryland, 5 congressional races, a senate race, and presidential campaign.
Here in Baltimore we mobilized hundreds of volunteers, who did thousands of hours worth of work, reached tens of thousands voters and did it on hundreds of thousands less dollars than our opponents.
While none of this was ever only about winning this election, and the odds were never in our favor, we still played until the buzzer.
Now, more than ever, it is imperative to continue the work we did in the campaign. We must continue the fight for politics that is responsive to people, advances progressive policy, and unites diverse movements fighting for a more just future.
While that work is going on we also need to expand our capacity and plan for the next election cycle. It is going to be a busy time, but in Trump’s America we all need to get to work.
