Time for a Change!
As you know, Tuesday, June 5th is election day. If you have already voted, THANK YOU! Taking back our government, starts by making sure that all of our voices are heard on election day. If you haven’t voted yet, I’d like to tell you about myself and why I am running to represent the 29th Congressional District.
I was born and raised in Sun Valley by Mexican immigrant parents, attended LAUSD schools, earned a BA in Political Science-Public Administration, and obtained an MA in Organizational Leadership. I am a Board Member on the Sun Valley Neighborhood Council, where I faithfully served two terms as President, one term as 2nd Vice President, and one term as 1st Vice President.
I am married to a wonderful husband, Henoc Sanchez, and we have five wonderful children.
I have always cared for my community, but the 2016 election provided a wake-up call that I needed to get even more active politically to work toward the changes we need to get rid of corporate control of our government.
Unlike the incumbent in this race, I have committed to taking NO CORPORATE MONEY. I am honored to have received the national endorsement from Our Revolution, as well as the support of the grassroots activists in our community.
As your Congresswoman, I will prioritize the following issues:
UNIVERSAL HEALTHCARE. I believe that healthcare is a basic human right, I will fight for a Medicare-for-All healthcare system. It’s time to remove the profit motive from our healthcare system to ensure that everyone is covered.
STOP ENDLESS WARS. I believe that we need to stop the endless wars and regime changes, utilize diplomacy, and work towards peaceful solutions to any conflicts that arise. We need to audit our military spending to better understand why our Department of Defense cannot account for TRILLIONS of dollars, and stop providing a blank check to agencies that cannot properly manage their funds.
TUITION-FREE EDUCATION. In Congress, I will sponsor legislation to support tuition-free public colleges and universities as well as vocational schools and apprenticeship programs.
HUMANE IMMIGRATION REFORM. As a daughter of immigrants, I believe that America’s strength is in our diversity. I support a path to legalization for all undocumented immigrants, and will work to pass a Clean DREAM Act.
All of the changes we want are within reach, but it will take a new group of representatives who are not beholden to corporate donors and who have the political will to get this done. It’s time for a change, and I would be honored to have your support and your vote.
