Vote for RCV on Tuesday!
Portland, ME – Although we only have 6 candidates on the ballot for this year's primary election, it is of utmost importance that Greens across Maine get out to vote in this Tuesday's election to preserve ranked choice voting.
Our allies at RCV Maine are making one last push to get out the vote on Tuesday, and we ask you to help them to preserve this very important measure to improve democracy in Maine, by volunteering these last few days.
An appeal sent to us recently by RCV Maine Campaign Manager Kyle Bailey couldn't be worded any better, so we are referring the appeal to you in the text below, so that you may be empowered to get involved.
Thank you so much for your enrollment as a Green Independent and for supporting our value of grassroots democracy!
From RCV Maine:
We won Ranked Choice Voting with 52% of the vote in 2016. Winning the People’s Veto next Tuesday is NOT a slam dunk. We need EVERY person who collected signatures (YOU) to help us make calls NOW to likely supporters. Please click here to sign up for a GOTV shift and we will follow up right away to get you plugged in. You can also email Chris ([email protected]), Abbie ([email protected]), or Cormac ([email protected]) right now to find out how to jump in.
The People’s Veto question on the ballot is NOT clearly worded. EVERYTHING we’ve worked for the past three and a half years could, poof, disappear if people don't know that voting YES protects Ranked Choice Voting. Thank you for collecting signatures, and for everything you’ve done, but I have to be honest with you: it’s not enough. We need you to call NOW. Our democracy is at stake.
If you do your part, and we all pull together, we will win. You can call remotely from the comfort of your home, or you can bring a phone, a laptop, and a chair and meet us at 38 Diamond Street in Portland anytime between 9am-8pm today through Tuesday to help us get this done. If you're already plugged in, please ignore this request. Thank you, thank you, thank you for rolling up your sleeves to finish the job.
No regrets,
Kyle Bailey
