The Coordinated Campaign Committee (CCC) invites you to the next session in our Campaign Training Series: Developing and Using a Voter Database
Tuesday, August 13, 2019
9:00-10:30 PM Eastern
This webinar is designed primarily for state party leaders. Candidates and top-level campaign staff and volunteers may also find value in the call.
Background and Details
The Green Party of Pennsylvania developed a voter database in 2006 in response to a signature petition challenge of then Senate candidate Carl Romanelli. GPPA has updated and used that database ever since, for both voter look-up, creation of street lists, identification of potential candidates for special elections, and signatures validation during petition drives.
Sometime in the early 2010's, the Maryland Green Party used the Pennsylvania code and built their own version of the voter database. MDGP used it in the fall of 2014 to verify 17,000 ballot access signatures. MD used it simultaneously across the state, distributing the 17,000 signed petitions among many volunteers for a large team effort, with each person taking a small amount and working at their own pace. The software ensured the MDGP ballot access submission met strict new court signature and middle name requirements, and qualified the party for another four years.
This call will be led by Kristin Combs and Hillary Kane. Kristin was recently elected to the GPUS Steering Committee; Hillary serves on the SC as the GPUS Treasurer. Hillary and Kristin are both from Pennsylvania and have each served terms as GPPA Chair. Hilary's husband Brandon developed the initial voter database and Kristin made use of it during her 2015 City Council campaign. Hillary and Kristin will demonstrate the general features of the database, and how it's use differs from that of NationBuilder (which GPPA also uses). Although neither Hillary and Kristin are computer programmers, they will do their best to answer questions as to how other states may adapt the code and use it for their own similar purposes.
Please RSVP in advance of the webinar on the http://gp.org website. You will receive an immediate auto-confirmation from our online system, which includes the log-in information. This notification will go to the email address we have on file for you. If you do not get the information for the call, email [email protected]. Due to the nature of this webinar, it is highly recommended that you join via a computer and web browser so you can see the visual demonstration of the database.
