GPUS 2017 Annual National Meeting Information
Location
The meetings and all activities will be held at the campus of the New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT.edu). Check out the campus map here. All of our meetings Thursday, Friday and Saturday will be held in the Campus Center. Dining is also in the Campus Center Thursday (B-L-D) and Friday (B-L). Our meeting Sunday will take place in the Central King Building, Room 303. Those staying on campus will be in Honors Hall.
Registration
- If you are coming on Wednesday, you will go directly to Albert Dorman Honors Hall, 156-182 Warren Street.
- If you are coming Thursday or Friday and are staying on campus, go to Honors Hall to get your room key. You can also go directly to the Campus Center but you'll have to bring any baggage with you.
- If you are not staying on campus you may go directly to the Campus Center at 150 Bleeker Street.
Transportation Help
Check google.com/maps for directions from various areas. Google.com/maps will also show you bus/train transportation.
For those staying on campus, the address to use if you want to go directly to the Albert Dorman Honors Residence (Honors Hall) is 156-182 Warren Street, Newark.
If you are going directly to the Campus Center where our meetings are held use 150 Bleeker Street, Newark.
From Newark Airport: PATH train to Newark Penn Station (15 min). 25 min walk, 10 in bus #41 Orange, or 5 min taxi to NJIT. City buses and lightrail run all day and are cheap. PATH train connects to Jersey City, Hoboken, and Manhattan for $2.75 per ride.
Parking
For those staying on campus or commuting, here are parking instructions.
Address for the parking deck is 154 Summit Street, Newark, NJ.
Public Safety will give you access to the deck. Let them know you are checking into the Honors Hall for a conference and staying on campus. Once you park and walk over to the hall for check-in you will receive check-in information to access the hall and the room.
If the gates are down use the intercom box, identify yourself as a conference guest and the officer will let you in.
Walking Directions:
Once parked, exit the building on the Summit Street side: press 2 on the elevator, the exit is on the 2nd floor. After exiting the deck turn right on Summit Street and walk down the hill. Cross Warren Street at the light and continue walking straight towards a large white stone sculpture of a telephone. When you walk past the sculpture you will see Central King building on your right. Walk past this building and then you will see the Campus Center building. Once at the Campus Center, enter the building, make the first left which will lead you to the lower or upper floors.
Green Party Central (Ballroom B)
We've named Ballroom B in the Campus Center "Green Party Central". We'll have exhibitors in there along with registration, Green Party merchandise, and media check-in. It will be open Thursday and Friday until about 8 pm. Don't forget to bring money to buy Green Party merchandise.
Wednesday Arrivals
For those coming Wednesday evening, we will gather for conversation and pizza at about 7:00 pm in the 5th floor lounge in Honors Hall.
Housing
All housing is in Honors. You will have a linen packet which includes a blanket, pillow, flat and fitted sheet, pillow case, small towel and large towel. Toiletries are NOT included.
WiFi
The entire campus has wifi so feel free to bring your laptop or tablet computer. There are no computers for public use. We will have at least one laptop available for those that want to vote for the Steering Committee co-chairs.

Greens Got Talent Fundraiser
Join us Saturday night for dinner, great entertainment, karaoke, munchies, and libations. We're starting with a dinner at Kilkenny's. They have given us a great price which includes a vegetarian pasta entree with salad and a vegan and meat appetizer, one house drink, unlimited soft drinks and all the set-up and sound for our talent show. They've even closed the place just for us.
Dinner will be buffet-style from 7:00 – 8:30 pm with a suggested donation of $25 or whatever you can afford. But don't worry – no one is turned away. From 8:00 – 10:00 we'll have a variety of talented Greens perform and other entertainment. If you're interested in performing let us know. Don't miss this chance to kick back with Green Party folks.
Steering Committee Elections
Steering Committee elections for Co-Chairs and Secretary will end at 5:00pm EST Saturday evening, July 15. An on-line forum for SC candidates was held on July 8, which can be viewed here.

You may want to wait to vote until you meet the candidates so make sure you plan to vote before 5:00 pm Saturday. We'll make a laptop available all day Saturday but remember to have your user name and password.
Meals
Meals will be served in Continuous Dining Thursday (B-L-D) and Friday (B-L). They will be buffet-style with vegan, vegetarian and meat options at all meals. Here is a list of the food stations they have. Continuous dining is open before and after the hours listed below but it is suggested we used the hours below for the best service.
You can pay cash or credit/debit card.
Breakfast is $6, lunch is $10 and dinner is $13. For the amount of food you can get, it is very reasonable (especially breakfast and lunch).
Breakfast: 8:00 am – 9:00 am
Lunch: 12:00 pm – 1:00 pm
Dinner: 5:30 pm – 6:30 pm

Tech Cafe: 8:30 am - 2 pm
C Store: 8:30 am - 4 pm
The Gourmet: 11 am - 2 pm
Forte: 11 am - 2 pm
Warren Street Cafe: 8 am - 7 pm (located on Warren Street next to Honors Residence where we are staying.
Saturday and Sunday we will have a continental breakfast served at the meeting location. There is a suggested donation of $8 for breakfast but no one will be turned away. Lunch will be pizza and salad in the Atrium. Suggested donation for that is also $8.
We will give you information on Friday dinner options. We are organizing carpools to various Newark-area restaurants.
