Honoring Earth Day 2026

Global wars and ecocide threaten our futures, and we must ACT NOW!
Many of us have marveled at the latest photos of our precious "Blue Marble" by the crew of the Artemis II spacecraft as it orbited the moon recently. But as we consider the planet and all the ecosystems on which life relies, empire's greed is propelling our planet in an accelerating downward spiral toward ecocide and chaos.
The wars being waged by our government cause not only the death, injury and misery of people, but also the destruction of essential and life-supporting infrastructure, water and energy systems, and agricultural lands. Wars transform landscapes into toxic wastelands and water resources into poisoned, disease-ridden cess pools that trigger mass humanitarian crises, forced migration, poverty, and famine.
The human, economic and environmental impact of the recent U.S. war on Iran will be catastrophic, with a historic global energy crisis already being felt around the world. Here at home, gas, transportation and food prices will continue to rise impacting the most vulnerable in our communities.
Currently the true environmental impact of warfare and mass military operations are largely excluded from international climate reporting frameworks, despite military's emissions exceeding 1.3 million metric tons of CO₂.
Yet, Trump continues to bring the world ever closer to a nuclear war than it has been since WWII, with each new military aggression posing a risk of escalation involving nuclear-armed countries including Russia and China.
WE SAY ENOUGH!
ON this Earth Day, Greens recommit to our core EcoSocialist values to put people, planet and peace over profit.
The time is NOW to use our collective power to challenge empire, take collective action, participate in general strikes, stop work and labor, Boycott and divest, and make our voices heard in EVERY way we possibly can.
