Hope Will Never Be Silent
The power of hope can't be understated, and on this Harvey Milk Day, I am hopeful about the future. As we honor the legacy of a leader who put his life on the line for queer liberation and social justice, we as Greens must remember to keep up the fight, and although things may seem dire now, remain hopeful.
Harvey Milk blazed a trail in the late 1970s as one of the first openly gay individuals to hold public office in California. He fearlessly advocated for the rights of the LGBTQIA+ community, inspiring countless individuals to embrace their authentic selves and demand equality. His dedication, courage, and unwavering spirit still resonate with us today as we work towards a society that values and uplifts the voice of the oppressed.
The National Lavender Green Caucus recognizes that the fight for queer liberation is inseparable from our commitment to social, economic, and ecological justice. We know that diversity and equity are not just buzzwords but the cornerstones of a thriving society.
