Dario Hunter is officially recognized as a GP Presidential Candidate
Dario Hunter of Youngstown, Ohio has just become officially recognized by the Green Party as a candidate for the 2020 Green Party presidential nomination.
Hunter was born in New Jersey to an African-American mother and Persian father. He is a graduate of Princeton University and has three law degrees. He has taught as a high school English teacher, served as a K-8 school administrator and as a community college instructor. Hunter serves as a member of the Youngstown Board of Education. He has practiced law in Canada and worked as an international environmental lawyer. He has also served as a rabbi, providing religious services to the Youngstown community.

Hunter states that "The Green Party is the party of Justice – justice for the Earth and all its people." His campaign platform would guarantee that people have needed basic income, employment, housing, food, and other essentials of life. He supports a Green New Deal that would transition to renewable energy by 2030. He would end environmental and educational racism, empowering disadvantaged communities while ending colonialism and destructive militarism.

Official recognition is awarded to candidates who satisfy specified minimum criteria for things like fundraising, signatures of support, organizing a campaign committee, etc. Hunter's application for official recognition was validated by the Green Party's Presidential Campaign Support Committee (PCSC). At this point only one other candidate, Howie Hawkins, has received official recognition.
