Our Party is also celebrating this entire year and focusing on organizing in your area. So join us for the party, the Green Party!

Silver Anniversary Year for the Indiana Green Party
In 2001 a group of environmental activists and community advocates filed a new political party with the Indiana Elections Division. The Indiana Green Party became official. Throughout 2026 we are celebrating our 25 years of planting our Green values. The dedication of so many people to march for environmental rights, to run for elected office and to sit through many, many meetings is the seed that has been planted in our Hoosier soil for a Greener, Healthier and Inclusive Indiana. Let's build our excitement in 2026 for our next 25 years and beyond!
Michael with our NWI Indiana Green local has been digging through the archives of old websites in order to reconstruct our history. Piecing together old news articles, meeting minutes and the odd bit here and there, that work can be seen on the new History page of our website. Check it out. As this is an emerging document of our impact in Indiana if you have any of our history, minutes, pictures or reflections help us to fill in the gaps and please send them to us.
You can also share in our yearlong celebration of our movement by making a special contribution today to the Indiana Green Party. Your support will help us to continue to make history here in the Hoosier State.

Marshall Travis for IN House 48
Marshall Travis a local justice reform activist has been walking the neighborhoods in northern Elkhart county with the help of the NWI Greens. To be on the ballot Marshall has to get 307 validated signatures. A month and a half after those first round of signatures were submitted Marshall is still waiting for the county to complete the validation - but their delays will not stop our push forward for House 48. This is an exciting time for our Greens in around Elkhart as we build our momentum towards the November elections. If you are interested in helping out with the spring push to get the rest of the signatures for Marshall's campaign reply to this email, or contact us through the website or Facebook.
Updates from Your Local Greens
This has already been a busy year for the Northwest Indiana Greens as they are focused on theenvironment and quality of life along our Lake Michigan counties. The big issue has been a proposed enormous Amazon data center in the city of Hobart. Our local party chair, Joe Conn, has been involved with the fight and is a plaintiff in three lawsuits filed against the city of Hobart - two relating to fill permits to move dirt before a site plan has been approved and another lawsuit on the tax abatement. This past week Joe was at the Lake County courthouse for the first hearing on the injunction. We are taking the fight to the courtseven with our one lawyer verses their seven.
In Porter County the buzz is brewing about bringing the Chicago Bears to the Indiana Dunes National Park. Not that Chicago would ever allow that happen, still the NWI Greens are gearing up to keep our National Park a place for conservation and low impact recreation - not hundreds of acres of parking lot. The NWI Greens are fighting for a Greener region, so join us to find out more at our next monthly strategize on March 15, 2026 at 2:30pm at the Portage Branch Public Library at 2665 Irving Street, Portage. Find us in the Portage History Room on the 1st Floor.
