Our credentialed Delegates will use Loomio as their voting platform during the 2020 Green Party Presidential Nominating Convention on Saturday, July 11th.

LOOMIO

If you are a credentialed Delegate or Alternate and have not yet logged on to your account, please email [email protected] with "Need Loomio Invite" in the subject header. Please include your delegation (State/Caucus) and whether you are a credentialed Delegate or Alternate.

CHECK IN: SATURDAY, JULY 11TH BEFORE NOON ET

Delegates and Alternates will receive an invitation from Loomio that morning to "check in." We ask that Delegates check in between 11:00-11:59am ET. We encourage you not to wait until the last minute! 

We have produced a short video so you can see the process. As Delegates check in, that will be visible to other delegates and convention administrators. This will allow Delegation Reporters to see who among their delegation may need a gentle nudge / reminder to get online for the day. So please check in prior to our noon eastern start time.

Credentialed Delegates and Alternates for whom we have a "textable" number will also receive a reminder text that morning once the invitation from Loomio has been sent.

Credentialed Delegates and Alternates will also receive an email that morning from [email protected] with any last minute updates & details. Please add [email protected] to your email address book to ensure these messages arrive in your inbox.

INVITES TO LOOMIO (our voting platform)

Invites continue to go out daily, as we receive information about newly credentialed Delegates and Alternates. Please set up your accounts as soon as possible, if you have not already done so. Please look for an email from the name “Loomio - Green Party 2020 Presidential Nominating Convention Voting System” and an address of “[email protected]”

LOOMIO & MOCK ELECTIONS

We request all credentialed Delegates and Alternates to please participate in the first Mock Election by 9pm ET on Tuesday, July 7th. Invites were sent last night or go there and vote now. If we all practice using Loomio in this way, then everyone will be familiar with the system by Saturday. We will send an invitation to a second Mock Election later this week. 

DELEGATES AND ALTERNATES

Please note, if you are currently a Delegate but know you cannot fulfill delegate responsibilities, then please make sure your relevant State or Caucus is aware and informs the Credentialing Committee by noon Eastern on Thursday, July 9th. We need time to make sure your Alternate is transferred to a Delegate in our system, has their Loomio account set up and is ready to fully participate on Saturday.

PRESIDENTIAL CANDIDATES PETITIONS TO SPEAK

Please note: delegates who are already bound to vote for a particular candidate in the first round are not eligible to sign a petition. If you signed one in error, you may go back and "change your vote" and add in the “Explanation” field that you signed in error so the Election Administrator knows that your vote cannot be counted towards the threshold of 10 signatures. The deadline for candidates to submit is noon ET on Thursday, July 9th.

APPROVAL OF PLATFORM

We will be voting to approve the platform on Saturday, after we vote on the Credentialing Report. This is the final step in a months-long platform process. Please see the rules by which our convention is governed.

5-8.2(b) To address the convention, a delegate is required to register, with their name, delegation, draft Platform provision to be addressed, and their position on such provision with the Convention facilitation team not later than noon Eastern Time on Thursday, July 9.

If you wish to make a motion to strike: 5-8.2(b) also states:

 A delegate may make a motion to strike a provision from the platform if they have also presented signatures of at least 10 percent of convention delegates in support of that motion at the time they register to speak by noon Eastern Time Thursday, July 9. 

Delegates must use Loomio to submit a request to speak OR make a motion to strike. Please see your Loomio account for details on how to gather those signatures electronically from Delegates -- or to see who else is gathering them!
