Welcome to the March Newsletter of the Santa Clara County Green Party
With the arrival of Spring we can't help but be rejuvenated and hopeful for the future of our world. No doubt there is enough daily bad news to bring us down. Yet we are hopeful, because our work in the Green Party, is the actual expression of HOPE against stacked odds! We belief that TOGETHER, we will claim our democracy back and have the government we truly deserve. From February, the month of PEACE and LOVE, we are moving into March, the month of COMPASSION! Please join us in serving our communities, in any way available and possible.

DONATION DRIVE!
Help us collect desperately needed supplies to distribute to those living without a roof this winter!
The recent rains are making life on the streets even harder than usual for our homeless communities. We are organizing a donation drive for the next four weeks to collect needed items so we can join the Sleeping Bags for the Homeless group and distribute them to those most in need. The housing emergency has driven the working poor out of their home and they need our help.
PLEASE HELP by donating these items or make a financial donation so we can purchase these badly needed items:
Sleeping bags, blankets, coats, clothes, socks and gloves
Personal hygiene supplies: shampoo, soap, toothbrushes, toothpaste
Durable food items like cans, dry goods like noodles and energy bars
Tarps and tents are also greatly appreciated!
Distributing help where it's needed most!
On Saturday March 3rd, Santa Clara Greens joined Sleeping Bags for The Homeless group to collect, sort and distribute sleeping bags, clothes, shoes, socks, gloves, hygiene essentials, food, water and coffee to the homeless in San Jose encampments. Learn more about SB4TH.
In the midst of what seems like a hopeless situation, we met amazingly resilient and hard working people who are doing their best to survive. We are committed to help our unhoused neighbors and will be joining SB4TH team regularly. Please look for upcoming dates on our Facebook events page.

Santa Clara Greens Endorse three CA Green Party 2018 Candidates
We are proud to endorse Josh Jones for CA Governor, Erik Rydberg for CA Secretary of State, and Barry Hermanson for Congress in District 12. These candidates strongly represent the Green Party values and have all campaigned to engage more Greens and bring our 10 key values to the greater California progressives. Please help us support these candidates by advocating or them and donating to their campaigns if you can.

On Monday February 26th, GPSCC members hosted an event to investigate the cross sectionally of divestment strategies and how separate movements an lear from one another around divestment. Thank you Greens for join ing us and contributing to the conversation.

A Santa Clara County Public Bank!

Join this event on March 10th, at 1:00 pm, co-hosted by our coalition partner, SBPA. This will be the initial organizing meeting of activists advocating for a local public bank. Following a workshop on 11/20/17 and a broad discussion in early February at the meetings of Building Alternatives, on February 21 a group of activists decided to meet and organize for a local public banking, with an initial focus on Santa Clara County. A meeting with the office of Supervisor Joe Simitian will be planned. You can learn more about The North Dakota Public Bank, and the Public Bank for Santa Fe.
