Green Political Organizer to address 12th Annual Peace and Justice Gathering
Adrian came to the US in 1973 following the consolidation of the brutal right wing military regime in his native country of Uruguay. He has since spent his adult life in the US engaged in the struggle for social justice: racial, economic and environmental justice, Latin American struggles, Palestinian Liberation, and human rights. Adrián supported Jill Stein for President, where he served as Field Director and Special Advisor on Palestinian and Latin American Affairs. He is presently serving as National Political Organizer for the Green Party, and lives in Austin.
Founded in 2002, People for Peace and Justice is a coalition of persons and organizations based in the Rio Grande Valley, opposing violence, lies, and greed. We try to model peace and tolerance within our association and with others. We come from diverse backgrounds, ages, races, ethnic groups, educational levels, religions and philosophies, political and sexual orientations, and we enjoy working with other individuals and groups. We meet on the second Wednesday of each month at the Unitarian/ Universalist Fellowship in San Juan, Texas (14th and Nebraska) at 7:00 pm.
Some special discussion topics this year include: Stopping threats on Immigrants and Refugees; No Islamophobia; Ending the Death Penalty and Current Interrogation Practices in Texas; Defending Public Education. End U.S. threat-filled Rhetoric toward Mexico, China, North Korea, Russia, Iran, Syria, etc.
