March 19th, 2003. The United States invaded Iraq. The public premise for the invasion was that Iraq was hiding “weapons of mass destruction,” but everyone knew there were other reasons for the war. Oil. Profiteering for the military-industrial complex. Revenge for 9/11, even though Iraq had nothing to do with 9/11. And regime change.

Over two decades later, there are still American troops in Iraq.

The regime in Iraq has changed more than once in that time. Has the regime in the US changed? No matter who is in control, the Republicans or the Democrats, the US empire marches on.

But more Americans are waking up to the horrors perpetrated in our name, with our tax dollars, by our military, or by client states with weapons we pay for.

Protesting is not enough. Rather than regime change wars around the world, we need regime change here at home. It can be done peacefully by voting against the corporate-controlled parties, and voting for the Green Party, which is the most powerful pro-peace party in the U.S. We can gain the momentum we need to make real changes happen with your help. We must extinguish the fires of war before they consume us all.
