The Green New Deal

When we Greens talk about our policies and platform it may seem that we are talking about separate platform planks. But our policies come together in an integrated plan called the Green New Deal!

You all may have heard a lot about it in the recent weeks as young progressive Democrats seem to have found the concept and brought it to corporate Media'a attentions!

We are delighted!

Greens know that the Green New Deal BELONGS TO US ALL. The phrase "The Green New Deal" coined by economist Thomas Friedman in early 2000, then first incorporated into a political party's platform by the German Greens in 2008. It was adopted in 2010 by Howie Hawkins, Green Party's New York Gubernatorial candidate for his platform. Jill Stein's presidential campaigns in 2012 and 2016 then put the Green New Deal at the heart of their platform.

This integrated and comprehensive plan will significantly shift both our economy and our social policies toward meeting the needs of people and away from a focus on profiting billionaires.

Now the question is WHO will ever implement The Green New Deal? Corporatist parties owned by the billionaires or the ONLY national Corporate-free Party in our country?

This Green Party of Santa Clara County holiday get-together is a great opportunity to celebrate the winter solstice, Hanukkah, Christmas, Kwanzaa, and all the other season’s celebrations. Let’s gather to share a meal, count our blessings and briefly share 2018 highlights and our 2019 goals.

We are meeting at a (vegetarian/vegan/gluten-free)-friendly buffet restaurant  with labeled non-produce items. It is also steps from the Lawrence Caltrain station. Please note: everyone is responsible for paying for their own order. Feel free to bring family and friends to celebrate with us!

Join us at this community action for housing and humanity, organized by CHAM Deliverance Ministry and Serve the People San Jose.

Displacement is an evil policy. It destroys communities, reduces diversity, tears families apart, erases culture, damages the environment, ruins people’s quality of life, undermines economic opportunity, and increases inequality and homelessness.
Some people hope that Google will bring much needed high-paying jobs to our community. It is true that it will provide some good jobs, but not primarily for the San Jose residents that need them the most. Google only hires 30% women, 2.5% African Americans, and 3.6% Latinos.

Join any part of the fast or vigil but please do your best to attend the CITY COUNCIL MEETING/VOTE ON LAND SALE on Tuesday 12/4 at San Jose City Hall to show our city council members that the community stands together with our unhoused neighbors and that we want Housing Not Google!
