September Newsletter
HOUSTON – Climate Strike & Extinction Rebellion events have been called for everywhere 9/20-9/22. The Green Party of Texas (GPTX) encourages all Greens to participate with these events in their area in order to amplify the clear demand for climate action and peace. The People's Mobilization is planned in NYC, and the Green Party Peace Action Committee (GPAX) has schedule and other information.
Last month, GPTX issued a Call for Candidates. With ballot access restored, candidates filing for the Green ballot line might take advantage of a less crowded primary field and have more confidence in being able to carry their campaign through to the general election. The candidate filing period ends December 9, so now is the time to recruit Green candidates in your area. Now is also the time to bring local parties together so they will be ready to operate the required nominating conventions in March 2020.
The GPTX State Executive Committee meets online at 7:00 p.m. on the 3rd Sunday of every month and encourages prospective candidates and Green volunteers wanting to build the party in their area to join in the conversation. Contact us to RSVP for meeting information.
And speaking of building the party, Green candidate for President Howie Hawkins visited Texas in September, with meet & greet campaign stops in Dallas, Austin, and Houston. GPTX thanks the Howie Hawkins campaign & our other potential candidates for being the standard-bearers for Green values in our political arena.
Can you pitch in to help GPTX sustain our fight?
