Tariq Shabazz for U.S. Senate
Tariq K. Shabazz is a Husband, Navy Veteran, and Political Scientist. He grew up in inner city Cleveland, Ohio where he experienced numerous traumas ranging from the debilitating state of poverty to gun violence. The Issues that he experienced only forged the fire and ambition to enact longstanding change.
Anti-war and ending the military-industrial complex
Tariq Shabazz advocates for reducing military spending and reallocating resources to address domestic issues. By advocating for a more peaceful foreign policy, he aims to decrease military intervention and prioritize diplomacy and international cooperation. Shabazz believes that redirecting funds from the military-industrial complex towards education, healthcare, infrastructure, and job creation will better serve the needs of American citizens and promote a more equitable society.
Housing as a Right
Mr. Shabazz recognizes that there is a myriad of issues that can attenuate the ability of the people to advance within this nation. The United Nations estimates 1.6 billion people worldwide live in inadequate housing conditions, with about 15 million forcefully evicted every year.
Shabazz believes that housing is a basic human right. He supports housing first initiatives, which prioritize providing immediate and stable housing to individuals experiencing homelessness. By addressing the root cause of homelessness and providing supportive services, such as mental health care and addiction treatment, Shabazz aims to break the cycle of homelessness and ensure that everyone has dignified and secure housing.
Medicare for All
Medicare for All: In contrast to the Affordable Care Act, Tariq Shabazz advocates for the implementation of a comprehensive Medicare for All system. This approach would provide universal healthcare coverage to all Americans, eliminating the complexities and inconsistencies of the current healthcare system. It would ensure that every individual has access to affordable and quality healthcare, regardless of their socioeconomic status, and reduce administrative costs and bureaucratic inefficiencies.
Reparations for Black American Descendants of U.S. Chattel Slavery
The United States Federal government maintained final sanctioning ability with respect to the illegal and egregious institution of chattel slavery committed upon Black Americans. This institution preceded the founding of the United States. Throughout the Colonial Americas as the credited Patriots liberated the 13 Colonies of foreign influence, slavery still existed. In its first government adaptation under the Articles of Confederation, which adopted the importance principles of limited central government and slavery remained Articles of Confederation (1777) | National Archives.
As the authority, the federal government must provide Reparations to the Black American people for establishing a permanent underclass within the nation that is evidenced in virtually every major category. The United Nation specifies that Reparations should include Restitution, Compensation, Rehabilitation, Satisfaction Reparations | OHCHR.
