This is an attack on Colorado's working class
BREAKING: State lawmakers are currently considering a bill (HB 1208) that would significantly lower the base pay for tipped employees across the state to $11.79 an hour.
Employee Pay Reduction By Location
- Denver $7.02 per hour
- Unincorporated Boulder County $4.78 per hour
- Edgewater $4.73 per hour
- Boulder $3.78 per hour
This substantial pay cut would have severe financial consequences for all tipped workers - but some full-time tipped workers - could see an annual loss of more than $8,300 in income.
This legislation supported by Democrats and Republicans comes at a time when Coloradans are experiencing long lasting inflation and a cost of living crisis that has been left unaddressed by state lawmakers.
The Green Party of Colorado opposes this attack on the Colorado working class. We are also looking to support voters who would like to run for office to remove anti-worker politicians from elected office.
In an effort to empower voters and increase transparency around this issue, the Green Party of Colorado is launching the Colorado Wage Cutters Tracker that will allow constituents to monitor how their state lawmakers vote on this critical bill.
This tool aims to hold elected officials accountable through grassroots action such as phone calls, emails to ensure that the voices of working-class Coloradans are heard in the legislative process.
