Upcoming Meetings, Actions, & Stay Warm

If you see anyone outside in this weather who needs help, DON'T call 911. Our friends at Recovery All Ways (RAW) has shared this graphic, but the gist is, call 211 or other resources on this list.
Thanks to everyone who came out for our meeting at the Lincoln Branch Library last week. We did have a technical difficulty (which we have since fixed) so here is a link to the video we were supposed to see: Joe Morelle Exposed.
After watching it, you'll understand why we need a Green to run against Morelle as well as in all political races; whether it be for US Congress, village council, school board, or state assembly. Interested? Give us a holler at [email protected].

Come to our next meeting! It's happening on Saturday, February 21st from Noon - 2pm at the Lyell Avenue Library, 956 Lyell Ave, Rochester, NY 14606. There will be a Facebook event created as well as postings on Instagram and Twitter. Pass them along!
Same as last month, if you can, please bring some non-perishable food items to donate to local food stands.
At the meeting last week, we discussed a new Green Party initiative, our Green Reading Group. It's basically a book club to learn about the concepts behind the Green Party's platform and to brainstorm how these ideas can be turned into systemic change in Monroe County. For now, it will be conducted the last Tuesday of the month at 7pm on Zoom. Registration link will be coming soon. But in the meantime, for the February 24th meeting, we will be discussing Ecosocialism: A Radical Alternative to Capitalist Catastrophe by Michael Lowy.
It's published by Haymarket Books and you can get a copy at https://www.haymarketbooks.org/books/696-ecosocialism.
If you can't get a copy, but still want to participate, please email Dave Sutliff-Atias at [email protected].
After that book, we'll discuss and decide together what the next reading should be and if/when we should have our reading group in person.
We've come to the conclusion that while electoral action is a significant tool in the toolbox of systemic change, our big collective power is our labor and participation in this "capitalist catastrophe."
That's why we're asking folks to sign up to participate in a General Strike. When? As soon as 10 million+ people commit to do it.
Sign up for the General Strike at https://generalstrikeus.com. As more people get on board, we'll be sharing information and tips on how to prepare to participate in a General Strike.
Also at our last meeting, a situation in some suburban schools in the area was discussed and we were told about an online petition to sign.
From the petition: Every year, our schools host Israeli emissaries who are reported to include biased content in their presentations such as maps of "Greater Israel." This does not support an apolitical stance but is a clear introduction of foreign political propaganda into our schools, causing distress among students of Palestinian descent and others who are aware of the sensitivity and implications surrounding this narrative.
Because the Education Ministry in Modi’in is part of Israel’s government structure, this collaboration represents a direct partnership between our public school district and a foreign governmental body. While described as a “people-to-people” program, it engages official entities that carry governmental authority and policy objectives.
Such a relationship conflicts with the neutrality expected of U.S. public schools and raises serious concerns about political influence, balance, and fairness within our educational environment.
Please sign this petition to stand with us in our commitment to a fair, inclusive, and welcoming educational environment for all students within the Pittsford school district.

And finally!
Save the Date!
Saturday, March 14th at 11:30am as we once again march in the Rochester St. Patrick's Day Parade. Details are coming, but we had an amazing contingency last year and we're already making plans to top that. Join us!
Stay warm!
