June is for Justice
Celebrating Juneteenth with a Reality Check!
The end to racial injustice and inequity in our marginalized communities will not be achieved by a designated day, month or performative gestures. It will take a systemic change to end race- and class-based exploitation and oppression. A systemic change powered not only by a second civil rights mass movement but an equally essential electoral mass movement that will shift the power from the billionaire ruling elite to the will of the people.
We acknowledge that all racial, social, gender, economic and environmental injustices are interconnected and powered by a capitalist, exploitative economic system that we must end for our world to survive.
Officially "abolishing" slavery in1865, the 13th Amendment states: "Neither slavery nor involuntary servitude, except as a punishment for crime whereof the party shall have been duly convicted, shall exist within the United States...”, effectively building in a loophole for legalized slavery as a form of criminal punishment to this day. In California, Black people represent 28% of the incarcerated population while making up only 5% of the state's residents, so for decades they have been the enslaved work force for billion-dollar multinational corporations in US prisons.
The Civil Rights Act of 1964 and the Voting Rights Act of 1965, a hundred years after Juneteenth was first celebrated as Freedom Day, have also failed Black and Brown communities, as they remain the most electorally disenfranchised, facing perpetual barriers that prevent their full participation in the democratic process.
We understand that the only way forward from our history of brutal racial oppression is through restorative action. The U.S. Green Party's Platform calls for full and complete reparations to the African-American community of this nation for the past four hundred plus years of genocide, slavery, land-loss, and destruction of original identity.

Dr. Jill Stein, the winner of the CA March Primary Election, joins us to kick off the California Community Organizing Program co-hosted by the GPCA Membership and Outreach Committee and the Candidates Committee.

We invite all California Greens, County Green Party leaders, Jill's supporters, and all voters who have been disenfranchised by the parties of War and Wall Street to join us at this event and help Greens build on the campaign's energy and momentum for a real choice in November.
This webinar will include a discussion with Dr. Jill Stein on the challenges and opportunities in the 2024 Election, followed by a workshop that offers resources and training on how to begin organizing for the November Election in your community!
Registration is required to attend this online event which is open to the public and free. This event will immediately follow the CA General Assembly, so register NOW!
General Assembly attendees, please note that a separate registration is needed in order to attend the Jill Stein event.

Jill Stein: Challenging Empire
SAVE THE DATE
Wed, July 3, 2024 - 5:30 pm PT, 6:30 MT, 7:30 CT, 8:30 ET
The Green Party of California is a cosponsor of the Black & Green Wednesday webinar series and we invite you to join us on July 3 for this discussion on Challenging Empire!
Election concerns include abortion rights, increased use of fossil fuels, vicious attacks on immigrants, and the bipartisan dumping of Medicare-for-All. But what takes center stage is US encouragement of Israel's slaughter of Palestinians. Democrats are working overtime to keep the Green Party off the ballot so they can prevent a serious discussion of peace.
We can't stop never-ending Wars by voting for never-ending warriors.
Join us on July 3 to hear from Ajamu Baraka and state Green Party representatives from the West, South, Midwest and Northeast. Most of all, hear from Dr. Jill Stein regarding America's increased entanglement in international violence. Also hear from:
- Sean Dougherty, Western Green Party representative
- Peter LaVenia, Northeastern Green Party representative
- Jennifer Sullivan, Southern Green Party representative
- Philena Farley, Midwestern Green Party representative
- Ajamu Baraka, Black Alliance for Peace, 2016 Green Party VP candidate
