The powerful have crafted a palatable dream, scrubbed clean of his radical economic analysis, his socialist leanings, and his profound indictment of a system built on the triple evils of racism, materialism, and militarism. MLK Day Reflections

Today on Martin Luther King Jr. Day, we listen to his reflections on the US Empire and the triple evils of racism, extreme materialism, and militarism in a country that was approaching spiritual death even then in 1967. During his speech, “Beyond Vietnam — A Time to Break Silence,” at Riverside Church in NY on April 4th of that year, he called the US the greatest purveyor of violence in the world today.
