News from Northwest Indiana
The Northwest Indiana Green Party has taken some hard knocks this spring as we push our grassroots environmental movement forward. We were not allowed to table at three local Earth Day events here in the region which means we have the establishment scared. In one email from an event organizer we were told that if we were allowed to table that we had to commit to not talk politics, not talk about Medicare For All and not talk about community health. As your NWI Greens we could not participate with our hands tied and voices muted.
It is time for us to step up as an independent movement and do our thing for our environment and our communities. The historical avenues of local engagement are closing against us, so it's time to grassroots environment to create our own unqiuely progressive spaces. Join us this Sunday for our monthly gathering to brainstorm our future engagement in throught the region.
The Northwest Indiana Green Party will be back in Portage for our monthly gathering. Join us on Sunday, April 27, 2025 at 2pm at the Portage Public Library in the the 1st Floor Portage History Room. The library is located at 2665 Irving St, Portage. Turn left as soon as you enter the main lobby, the room is past the reference section. Any updates to the meeting will be posted on our Facebook page.
