This essay represents a snapshot of my own understanding of the Venezuelan crisis. It started as a very limited effort to better educate myself in order to write my representatives and argue against a U.S. military invasion of Venezuela, however I soon uncovered far more than I had anticipated when I began, and furthermore discovered that most of this information flatly contradicted what we are reading in the mainstream press and hearing from most politicians. All of the opinions expressed are my own and they are based upon reading the references provided for the reader in this report.

The Green Party of Santa Clara County stands in opposition to the US-led coup in Venezuela against the democratically-elected socialist President Nicolas Maduro. We also ask Wells Fargo - aka "Oily Wells" - to stop funding the worst environmental fossil fuel projects on the planet through a march from Palo Alto to San Francisco. Oil wars and oil wells are killing people and the planet. The Green Party's message of People, Planet, Peace Over Profit has never rung so true.

Yesterday, February 27, 2019, a press conference was held at the United Nations press room in New York to announce that leaders of the US peace movement will be going to Venezuela to speak to government and civic groups about what is really happening in that country and how we can add our voices to stop any coup attempts or moves towards war.

As part of International Day of Solidarity with Venezuela, a protest will take place at 1 Gateway Center in Newark, outside the Newark Senate offices of Bob Menendez and Cory Booker. The offices are diagonally across from Newark's Penn Station.

The rally will also serve as a send off rally for some of the participants who will be traveling to NYC to participate in the March on Wall Street.

Democrats may hate Trump, but they join in white supremacist solidarity with his aggression against the mostly non-white people of Venezeula.

Washington, DC – Elliott Abrams' past took center stage when he testified before the House Foreign Affairs Committee on February 13, 2019. The combination of protests over his past war crimes and perjury along with the tough questioning by Rep. Ilhan Omar resulted in Abrams being publicly shamed on national television.

The controversy over the US coup forced the right-wing chairman of the Committee, Eliot L. Engel, to announce his opposition to US military action in Venezuela.

The Green Party of the United States stands in opposition to the regime-change politics of the United States directed at the people of Venezuela and expresses condemnation of the recent blows to the Venezuelan economy in the form of the United States' handing over banking access and funds to the opposition led by Juan Guaidó and UK's blocking of access to gold belonging to Venezuela. This sentiment is long held by the Greens as our platform plank on foreign policy states: "In the area of trade, third- and fourth-world economies and resources are being ravaged and our own economy and job security undermined by global corporatization, which concentrates greater power in the hands of fewer interests who are unaccountable to the vast majority of the world's people."

The Green Party of New Jersey opposes the ongoing effort by the U.S. to appropriate the resources of Venezuela as their own and believes in the right of Venezuelans to determine their own leadership without outside the intervention of outside imperialistic forces. GPNJ is particularly concerned that these efforts not end in war with Venezuela which would be disastrous.

As expected, some liberals and supposed anarchists are bringing up Maduro's problems. Not sure how that justifies US intervention and war. Obviously, these people either do not know or deny how the US via the CIA and other ways has intervened globally and wrecked havoc. Sometimes Liberals and so called Anarchists, probably trust fund babies, are useful idiots for Capitalism and Imperialism. So let the accusations reactionary voices respond.
