URGENT REQUEST FOR FINAL DELEGATION REPORTERS
If you have not submitted the name of your Delegation Reporter and Alternate Delegation Reporter, we need that information ASAP. We held two training sessions, on Sunday and Tuesday (see Threads on Loomio for slideshow and recordings) but we are still missing information from several states. We will send a final email with instructions tonight to all those whose names are in the spreadsheet. If you attended training, but did not enter your information, please do!
THE LINK TO THE ZOOM WEBINAR will be posted in Eventee, and posted in Loomio on Saturday morning. Please see Pinned Threads. Please do not share links – Zoom Webinar has attendance caps and we want to make sure everyone who registered is able to attend.
During the PNC, the Q&A function in Zoom Webinar should be used to communicate any points of process with Hosts & Panelists, such as an appeal or challenge to a ruling (by credentialed delegates only).
INVITATION TO DELEGATES TO CHECK IN ON LOOMIO: Credentialed Delegates will receive an invitation to “check in” on Loomio. You will also be able to find the “Check In” under the Decisions tab in Loomio.
Reminder: only credentialed delegates need to “check in” on Loomio and only credentialed delegates will be voting on Saturday. Please see Update #7 for a list of potential votes on proposals that Delegates may need to cast.
LIVE STREAMS – see gp.org/live for all details.
We plan to live stream the PNC on Facebook Live, YouTube and Twitch starting at noon ET on Saturday, August 17th when the convention officially begins. We have set up pages for a transcript of the PNC in Spanish and Arabic for people to follow along, if needed. These links will be live on Saturday.

Update #6: Loomio Threads, Platform Hearings, Delegation Reporters + more
August 12, 2024
We had our first Platform Hearing last night with dozens of interested attendees and our second one is this Monday evening, August 12 at 8pm ET.
We also held our first Delegation Reporter Training – such fun to hear sample reports! Our second training is this Tuesday evening, August 13 at 8:30pm ET.
If you have been selected by your state or caucus, please add your name to the Delegation Reporters and Alternates spreadsheet ASAP. The Zoom link to the training is there.
LOOMIO
If you have not already joined the Green Party of the United States group on Loomio, please do so as soon as possible.
We are trying to limit the number of times we send mass notifications so encourage you to please check Loomio for information if you do not see it in these updates. We have uploaded a Training Video as a pinned Thread on Loomio. There are also pinned Threads on the Platform Hearings, Delegation Reporter Trainings and more. Pinned Threads are where to look for *official* information created by PNC Coordinator and PNC Production Assistant.
While we encourage people to create their own threads to foster discussion amongst delegates, alternates and observers - questions about process should be sent to [email protected] or posted in those official pinned threads.
I will be closing down a thread created by a user that has unintentionally created confusion. My apologies but we are not able to monitor every comment on every user-created thread.
NAMING CONVENTIONS FOR LOOMIO & ZOOM WEBINAR ON SATURDAY
Please be sure the name displayed uses the following naming convention: Full Name, Delegation (State/Caucus), Role (Delegate, Alternative, Observer), Pronouns (optional)
- Ex: Jane Doe, Louisiana, Observer (she/her)
MOCK ELECTION ON LOOMIO
Thank you to the 60 people who have participated in our Mock Election so far. If you have not already voted, please do. We are asking *every credentialed delegate* to please vote so that we can be certain you know how to use this function before the PNC on Saturday.
There will be multiple votes using Loomio throughout the day, and only a short time to vote when those items are on the agenda. Reminder: only Credentialed Delegates can vote on Saturday. Those are found under the “Decisions” tab.
LOOMIO THREAD: THE MOTION TO STRIKE A PLATFORM PROVISION
Section 5-8.2(b) “...A delegate may make a motion to strike a provision from the platform if they have also presented signatures of at least 10 percent of convention delegates in support of that motion at the time they register to speak by noon ET, two days prior to the Presidential Nominating Convention.” (Thursday, August 15th)
We will post the most up-to-date list of credentialed delegates and alternates this afternoon (only delegates may sign) on our Loomio Thread called: “Updated list of Delegates and Alternates.”
We will also post it in the Thread called “The Motion to Strike a Platform Provision.” In that Thread, we will upload a sample “petition” but people need to create their own! Note: as this is a virtual convention, electronic signatures are fine, so please set up your own petition to allow for that option.
Delegates must email the petition with signatures to [email protected] AND [email protected] with the following subject header: Motion to Strike by noon ET on Thursday, August 15th.
Please note that when submitting your Motion to Strike, you need to also Register to Speak (bolded for emphasis, above) which means including your name, delegation, draft Platform provision to be addressed, and your position on such provision as per Section 5-8.2(b) outlined in email update #5.
DELEGATIONS WANTING TO CAUCUS AMONGST THEMSELVES
There may be times when you wish to discuss items amongst yourselves. We encourage you to set up ways to do so – some States and Caucuses already have their own Slack channels, or plan to use group texts or messaging.
If you need us to set up a private Subgroup for your delegation – please email [email protected] by 11:59 pm Tuesday, August 13th. NOTE: this is labor intensive for us, so if you already have another option, please use that.
OTHER RULES OF CONVENTION: PRESIDENTIAL CANDIDATE SPEECHES
The provisions for Presidential Candidate Speeches are in Section 5-9.2 of the Rules of Convention. We proactively reached out to all presidential candidates who have met recognition standards, notifying them of the opportunity to address the convention prior to the Roll Call. At this point, not all candidates have expressed their intent to do so.
Presidential candidates need to meet one of two criteria in order to address the convention. As per Section 5-9.1 – they may do so if they “have at least one delegate pledged to vote for them from each of three states…”
Or per Section 5-9.2 they “...may alternatively submit a petition signed by a number of credentialed Delegates equal to at least 3% of the total credentialed Delegates, and coming from at least 7 states, declaring each signers’ intention to vote for the candidate named in the petition in the first round of voting…”
At this point, none of the presidential candidates have chosen to inform us of their intent to gather petition signatures but the deadline to submit those signatures to the Election Administrator ([email protected] and copy[email protected]) is not until Thursday, August 15 at noon ET.
RULES OF CONVENTION: NO NOMINEE POSITION
Section 5-9.5 of the Rules of Convention: The Convention shall also provide equal time for a speaker for the No Nominee position, but not for None of the Above (NOTA). Equal time is defined as a time equal to that provided for each of the presidential candidates.
Section 5-9.6 of the Rules of Convention: A caucus of the delegates who favor the no nominee position will choose the No Nominee speaker and report the name to the Election Administrator by noon ET, two days prior to the Presidential Nominating Convention. (Thursday, August 15)
At this point, we have not heard from anyone from a “No Nominee” caucus. That said, delegates can set up Threads on Loomio and they can also email [email protected] with questions if they need help doing so (please put “No Nominee - Loomio” in subject header.
HOW TO REPORT THE NAME TO THE ELECTION ADMINISTRATOR
Email [email protected] AND [email protected] with the following subject header: “No Nominee Speaker”. This email must also be received by noon ET on Thursday, August 15th and should include the name of the designated speaker, but also the names of those delegates making up the “caucus of the delegates” as described in Section 5-9.6.
CHECK IN PROCESS FOR DELEGATES ON SATURDAY
The “check in” for Delegates on Loomio looks much like the Mock Election - which is one of the reasons we are asking everyone to vote! Check in begins at 11:00am ET. Please designate someone in your delegation to keep checking Loomio to see if your delegates have checked in, and to send reminders to those who have not.
The PNC officially starts at noon ET on Saturday, August 17 but we will open the Zoom Webinar at 11am that morning for those who like to get set up early! All registrants – delegates, plus alternates and observers – are welcome to join the Zoom Webinar.
Our Honorary Co-Chairs Margaret Elisabeth and Craig Cayetano will occasionally pop on to greet folks and share information about the Green Party during that first hour. We will also air musical recordings by David Rovics. The Honorary Co-Chairs will act as “Master of Ceremonies” throughout the day. Our Election Administrator is Joey Naham, and his Election Assistant is Gloria Mattera. These are Roles specified in our Rules of Convention.
We will let you know plans for our various live streams in our next email update so you can share with your networks. The live streams will not start until noon ET.

Update #5: Platform Hearings and the 2024 Green Party PNC + more
August 10, 2024
You are receiving this email because you registered for the 2024 Green Party Annual National Meeting and Presidential Nominating Convention (PNC).Please do not unsubscribe from these messages, or mark them as spam. Please add [email protected] to your email address book to ensure these messages arrive in your inbox!
We are a week away from our Presidential Nominating Convention (PNC) on Saturday, August 17th and our amazing lineup of ANM workshops starts this Thursday!
Our first Platform Hearing via Zoom is this Sunday at 6pm ET.
It’s exciting to see delegates, alternates and observers are already talking amongst themselves on Loomio…commenting on platform proposals in the Threads, voting in our Mock Election in the Decisions tab, and more. BUT not everyone has accepted their Loomio invite (you may also click here) and we need you to do so ASAP.
Loomio is also the way Credentialed Delegates (only) will check in and vote during the PNC. Voting starts right after the Credentials Committee Report, followed by the Platform Discussion and Vote, and more. Here is a short training video on how we will use Loomio.
MOCK ELECTION: Please practice!
We set up a Mock Election in Loomio under “Decisions.” We ask that everyone — whether you have used Loomio before or not – please participate by 11:59pm ET on Sunday. This gives us time to make any needed updates. Thank you.
PLATFORM HEARINGS:
Our first Platform Hearing via Zoom is 6:00pm ET this Sunday, August 11th. This is an opportunity for discussions, questions, and answers concerning changes and additions to the platform with representatives from the Platform Committee. The PNC Team will also review the Rules of Convention as they relate to the Approval of Platform process (see details below).
Our second / final Platform Hearing via Zoom will be Monday, August 12 at 8:00pm ET. We plan to record these hearings and add them to Loomio.
RULES OF CONVENTION: Approval of Platform
Our Rules of Convention outline the process for the Approval of Platform in Section 5-8.
REQUEST TO SPEAK (Deadline: Thurs, Aug 15 at noon ET)
Section 5-8.2(b) “...To address the convention, a delegate is required to register, with their name, delegation, draft Platform provision to be addressed, and their position on such provision with the Convention facilitation team not later than by noon ET, two days prior to the Presidential Nominating Convention.” (Thursday, August 15th)
HOW TO “REGISTER” YOUR REQUEST
Email [email protected] AND [email protected] with the following subject header: Request to Speak on the Platform. This email must be received by noon ET on Thursday, August 15th. As per the Rules, your email must include the following:
- Your Name (optional to include: your pronouns)
- Your Delegation
- The Platform provision to be addressed
- Your position on such provision
We will then notify you later on Thursday afternoon of the length of time you are allowed to speak. The Rules allow for a maximum of two minutes each but the Rules also limit the entire discussion period to ONE HOUR so, if we have many requests to speak, everyone gets a shorter speaking time.
MOTION TO STRIKE A PLATFORM PLANK
(Deadline: Thurs, Aug 15 at noon ET)
Section 5-8.2(b) “...A delegate may make a motion to strike a provision from the platform if they have also presented signatures of at least 10 percent of convention delegates in support of that motion at the time they register to speak by noon ET, two days prior to the Presidential Nominating Convention.” (Thursday, August 15th)
We will announce that threshold on Monday and post a sample petition on Loomio for Delegates to use. Note that only delegates may sign - signatures from alternates or observers do not count towards the total. And only delegates can make a motion to strike. Therefore, we will also post the updated list of credentialed delegates – without contact information.
Delegates must email the petition with signatures to [email protected] AND [email protected] with the following subject header: Motion to Strike by noon ET on Thursday, August 15th.
REMINDER: DELEGATION REPORTERS!
As per Section 5-4.2 of the Rules of Convention, each State or Caucus Delegation needs to choose a Delegation Reporter (and an Alternate Delegation Reporter). Delegation Reporters are required to attend (one) training, as per Section 5-4.2(a) Attending such preliminary meetings organized for State Delegation Reporters as may be called within ten days preceding the convening of the Convention .
- Please add your name to the Delegation Reporter / Alternate Reporter Spreadsheet *if* you have been selected by your delegation
- Mark which training you can attend - two choices, but you only need to attend one: Sunday, August 11 at 8:00pm ET or Tuesday, August 13 at 8:30pm ET.
- Please see the Rules of Convention, Section 5-4.2 for a description of the Role
- We also ask Delegation Reporters to help make sure their delegation is all present and participating throughout the day
NOTE: We will be discussing two other sections in Rules of Convention in Monday’s email update. This is already another very long email!
PLEASE HELP: Not every Credentialed Delegate is registered for the PNC yet. Please make sure all members of your delegation know they need toregister by Thursday, August 15th in order to vote on Saturday, August 17th.
While everyone who is registered is welcome to participate in all the various events and activities happening between now and Sunday, August 18th - there are some slight differences in roles and responsibilities during the Presidential Nominating Convention (PNC) on Saturday.
CREDENTIALED DELEGATES
Credentialed Delegates from dozens of states and several caucuses will join the PNC Zoom Webinar on Saturday (Aug 17) by noon ET after “checking in” on Loomio between 11 am-11:59 am ET. Delegates will receive an email that Saturday morning. Delegates should remain available for multiple votes throughout the day, beginning with a vote on the report from the Credentials Committee and moving quickly after that to our Platform Discussion and Vote. Only Credentialed Delegates can vote, and only Credentialed Delegates may sign petitions for a Motion to Strike (or any others we will cover in Monday’s email).
CREDENTIALED ALTERNATES
Credentialed Alternates are welcome to participate in Loomio discussions and Mock Elections, but will not be able to vote during the PNC. We strongly encourage Credentialed Alternates to participate in Mock Elections so that they are comfortable with using Loomio in case they are asked to take the place of Credentialed Delegate deadline for that change in status is noon ET on Thursday, August 15th as per Section 3-1.2 of the Rules of Convention, below.
CREDENTIALED ALTERNATE / DELEGATE STATUS CHANGES:
Section 3-1.2: “A credentialed alternate may replace a credentialed delegate on a person-for-person basis as long as their state party or caucus reports to the Credentials Committee at [email protected] who the alternate is and for whom they will be substituting by noon ET two days before….” (Thursday, August 15)
OBSERVERS
We are excited about how many Greens around the country will be participating in the workshops and evening events during the Annual National Meeting on Thursday and Friday, the PNC Zoom Webinar on Saturday (Aug 17) and events throughout Sunday, August 18. Observers are also welcome to participate in Loomio discussions and Mock Elections, but will not be able to vote during the PNC.
REMINDER ABOUT YOUR DISPLAY NAME ON LOOMIO
We request everyone follow a certain “naming convention” on Loomio. This can either be set up when you first join, or you can select “Edit Profile” in the left-hand sidebar and update your Name. Please list:
- Your Name, Your Delegation, Your Role and Your Pronouns (optional)
- Roles include: Delegation Reporter, Credentialed Delegate,Credentialed Alternate or Observer
- For example: Jane Doe, Louisiana, Observer (she/her)
Also, if you are not sure if you are a Credentialed Delegate or Credentialed Alternate – please check with your State Party Secretary or Co-Chair.

- Our second / final Platform Hearing is Monday, August 12th at 8pm ET
- Our second / final Delegation Reporter Training is Tuesday, August 13th at 8:30pm ET (note: 8:30pm ET)
Thank you to everyone who pointed out the typos in last week's email, sorry about that – those dates and times have been corrected!
We will be sending another update out this weekend, before any of the above activities, with relevant Zoom links AND will post on Loomio this weekend as well.
Please note: there are 15 proposed amendments. A duplicate had been posted in Loomio but the Platform Committee caught it, and it is now fixed. We are also working to make sure the language of each of the proposed amendments are accurate. We uploaded each one as a separate “Thread” in Loomio and assigned a random number (1,2,3…) just to keep track of each item. We will be updating those Threads as we get corrections from the Platform Committee.
UPCOMING UPDATES WILL ALSO INCLUDE:
- links to Platform Hearings (+ they will be recorded)
- links to Delegation Reporters trainings
- more Mock Elections on Loomio under "Decisions"
- more information about Delegate "check in" on Saturday, August 17 (a video!)
- more information about submitting a request to speak on a platform plank
- more information about submitting a Motion to Strike a platform amendment
- more information about any No Nominee Caucus
- more information about Presidential Candidate Speeches
Please make sure all members of your delegation know they need to register in order to participate.
Also, if you are not sure if you are a Credentialed Delegate or Credentialed Alternate – please check with your State Party Secretary or Co-Chair.
Again: only Credentialed Delegates will be allowed to vote on Saturday, August 17th.
As you have read, there is a lot happening in the next ten days. If you have any questions, please email [email protected] and we will get back to you as soon as possible. We will also create a new “FAQ” page on the website in the next few days.
We recommend sending questions related to these updates and other functions of the PNC to that email address, rather than just post them in a thread on Loomio where there might be lots of comments before we have a chance to officially respond.
Sincerely,
The PNC Team
Green Party PNC

PS: Please see previous email Updates # 1 and #2 and #3 if you are just being added to our email list now (or want a refresher). All dates have been fixed!
Update #3
August 1, 2024
We have been reviewing the list of Credentialed Delegates and Credentialed Alternates (the Credentialing Committee has been hard at work) and not everyone is registered for the PNC yet. Please make sure all members of your delegation know they need to register in order to participate.
Also, if you are not sure if you are a Credentialed Delegate or Credentialed Alternate – please check with your State Party Secretary or Co-Chair.
Only Credentialed Delegates will be allowed to vote on Saturday, August 17th.
Otherwise, the focus today is Loomio, the online voting software we use during our Presidential Nominating Convention (PNC). Loomio also serves as a discussion center – a place to interact with fellow delegates, alternates and observers.
>> You will receive your invitation to Loomio and platform discussion items in the next 24 hours. The “invite to join Green Party of the United States on Loomio” should come from email address [email protected]
>> After you have clicked on the link to join, please make sure you:
- Update your display name, include your delegation and pronouns (if you want)
- List if you are a Credentialed Delegate, a Credentialed Alternate or an Observer
- For example: Jane Doe, Louisiana, Observer (she/her)
The Platform Committee sent us the 15 different proposed platform amendments. We uploaded each one as a separate “Thread” in Loomio and assigned a number (1,2,3…) just to keep track of each item. Threads are similar to bulletin boards where groups can share information, ideas, and news. Feel free to start chatting – respectfully – amongst yourselves!
- All registrants are invited to discuss the Platform amendments in Loomio - this includes Credentialed Delegates, Credentialed Alternates and Observers
- But only Credentialed Delegates will be able to vote on the Platform during the PNC
Platform Hearings will be held on Zoom on Sunday, August 11th (6pm ET) and Monday, August 12th (8pm ET). We will send information about making requests to speak, and motions to strike, in next week’s email update.

Update #2
July 25, 2024
Dear Registrants,
Thank you for registering! Please remind those in your state or caucus about registering as soon as possible – registration fees increase on August 1st – so they can access the amazing workshops organized by the ANM Committee as well as participate in our second virtual PNC.
There are a range of activities on Thursday and Friday leading up to the PNC on Saturday and concluding on Sunday. Details are being finalized and added to the website almost daily. The Media Committee is also hard at work planning a series of press conferences featuring Green Party candidates and Green office holders.
Our Honorary Co-Chairs will open the 2024 Green Party Presidential Nominating Convention on our Zoom Webinar at noon Eastern on Saturday, August 17th.
Credentialed delegates will cast multiple votes throughout Saturday using Loomio, our online voting platform and discussion center. Next week’s email update will go into detail about Loomio, which is also where delegates will check in that morning (starting at 11:00 am Eastern).
THINGS WE NEED FROM YOU
ANM volunteers are collecting logos to be turned into Zoom backgrounds (used during the Roll Call). Please add your clearly named State and Caucus Logo to the Folder.
Please email David Doonan if there is anyone that needs to be included in the In Memoriam slideshow.
Per our Rules of Convention: your State/Caucus will need to select their“Delegation Reporter” (and an Alternate Delegation Reporter) who are expected to accurately report vote totals during the “Roll Call” portion of the afternoon. This process will be overseen by our Election Administrator and Election Assistant.
We will begin collecting those names by the end of the month. Delegation Reporters will be expected to attend a training via Zoom Webinar in the final week prior to the PNC (exact dates/times tbd).
FUTURE EMAILS FROM THE PNC TEAM
We will send weekly emails until early August and then they are likely to increase in frequency. We know it is a lot and appreciate your patience. Please add [email protected] to your email address book to ensure these messages arrive in your inbox.
Sincerely,
Your PNC Team

PS - as mentioned in the PNC Update #1, proxies are not part of this year’s convention (as they were not during 2020, which was also virtual)
UPDATE #1
July 20, 2024
Dear Registrants,
Thank you for registering for our 2024 Annual National Meeting and Presidential Nominating Convention (PNC) which will be held virtually from August 15-18th.
Please encourage your fellow Delegates and Alternates to register as soon as possible, if they have not already.
Our amazing GPUS staff have been busy updating the website:
- Annual National Meeting Committee volunteers put together an excellent schedule of workshops on Thursday, August 15 and Friday, August 16th
- The PNC schedule for Saturday, August 17th is also up and we have already begun taping some of our excellent speakers, including our Keynote Speaker Margaret Kimberley!
- Stay tuned for activities on Sunday, August 18th!
Please note: we will be discussing and voting on our Platform that Saturday morning, after the Credentialing Report and vote.
To that end, we hope to schedule Platform Hearings in the week prior to the PNC so that Delegates can become familiar with the proposed amendments, to be posted as soon as there is final language.
We will be using Loomio as our voting platform again, as it also provides Delegates the opportunity to interact with each other leading up to the PNC.
We know there has been some recent discussion about whether proxy votes are part of the virtual 2024 Presidential Nominating Convention. They are not, just like they were not for the virtual 2020 PNC.
FUTURE EMAILS FROM THE PNC TEAM
As registrants continue to be added to the list, we will need to cover both new and old ground in subsequent emails. We know it is a lot and appreciate your patience. Please add [email protected] to your email address book to ensure these messages arrive in your inbox.
As a heads up: your state/caucus needs to select their “Delegation Reporter” and an “Alternate Delegation Reporter” as we will need those names in a few weeks. Delegation Reporters are expected to accurately report vote totals during the “Roll Call” portion of the PNC and to attend a training via Zoom webinar in the week prior to the PNC.
Thank you again for registering for our 2024 Annual National Meeting and Presidential Nominating Convention (PNC). If you have any questions, please reply to [email protected] and we will get back to you as soon as we can.
Sincerely,
Your PNC Team
