Earth Day 2020
Ecological Wisdom: from our Ten Key Values
Human societies must function with the understanding that we are part of nature, not separate from nature. We must maintain an ecological balance and live within the ecological and resource limits of our communities and our planet. We support a sustainable society that utilizes resources in such a way that future generations will benefit and not suffer from the practices of our generation. To this end we must practice agriculture that replenishes the soil, move to an energy-efficient economy, and live in ways that respect the integrity of natural systems.

Only A Green New Deal Can Rebuild a Post-COVID-19 ‘New’ New York
ALBANY, NY (4-22-2020) – On the fiftieth anniversary of Earth Day, the Green Party of New York said that rebuilding a ‘New’ New York from COVID-19 should be done by building a healthier, cleaner, and more equitable ecosystem. Green officers stated that a Green New Deal would begin to address the twin problems of the economic depression caused by the coronavirus crisis and the looming threat of catastrophic climate change.

It's Earth Day's 50th Anniversary
It’s the 50th anniversary of Earth Day, and this year we find ourselves in the midst of the COVID-19 crisis.
If you’re paying attention to environmental news, now that many urban centers have been under stay-at-home orders, the earth is changing. Air pollution is receding because we’re no longer clogging up highways when we should be using public transportation instead. In fact, the world is on track to see a record 5 percent drop in carbon emissions.

Celebrate the 50th Anniversary of Earth Day by Registering GREEN!
SAN FRANCISCO – In these time of physical separation, the spirit of the human community and gratitude for our beautiful planet is with us all. Today, on Earth Day, please take a moment to reflect on the enormity of our responsibility in protecting and defending our home against greed and destruction.
Indeed this responsibility weighs heavy on the shoulders of all Greens worldwide but we all know a better world is possible and we will continue to work towards making it a reality for all future generations to come.

Earth Day – Funds Matched
Sustaining our party amidst the chaos of our time
The Green-Rainbow Party wishes a Happy Earth Day to you in these perilous times. Today, April 22nd, fifty years ago, the first Earth Day effort was built, which spurred Nixon's creation of the Environmental Protection Agency. Now, nearly three years after the EPA's scientific integrity official, Francesca Grifo, was barred from testifying to Congress, the agency is as beleaguered by this administration as we humans are from corona virus. Meanwhile, the Earth itself has suffered over this half century.

COVID-19 and the inability to properly celebrate the 50th Earth Day
By Greg Gerritt
I have been working with a group of people to plan a 50th Earth Day celebration for Rhode Island but given the global pandemic associated with COVID-19, the odds of having a public celebration on April 22 are approaching zero and getting slimmer every day (we are starting to discuss an on line event) considering that the whole state is in lock down and it is extremely unlikely that the pandemic will be over by Late April.

Earth Day 50th Anniversary – and Invitation!
By Laura Wells
Earth Day's 50th anniversary is April 22, 2020. There are many individual changes we can make to celebrate Earth Day, but we know that in addition to individual efforts, institutional changes are necessary.
Right now, even during this time of COVID-19, we can make a strong institutional statement about the urgent need to protect the planet. In the United States we can use the untapped power of our voter registration party affiliation. It will be a strong show of solidarity with the Earth when great numbers of people register Green on or before April 22, 2020.

Earth Day, Birthday: The Conception of a New World
By Alan Smith, Co-chair of the Green Party of Pennsylvania
On January 28, 1969, an oil spill occurred on the California coastline. Three million gallons covered an 800 square mile area killing over 10,000 animals and countless sea creatures.
Activists meeting about the oil spill created The Santa Barbara Declaration of Environmental Rights. "Moved by an environmental disaster in the Santa Barbara Channel to think and act in national and world terms....We propose a revolution...We will begin anew." Out of the death and destruction, of this oil spill did come something new.

Welcome Home on Earth Day!
Welcome Home on Earth Day!
Invite a Friend to Register Green for Earth Day 2020!
San Jose, CA – On April 22, 2020, the 50th anniversary of Earth Day, the Green Party of Santa Clara County is calling every progressive, grassroots activist, Bernie supporter, and duopoly-avert independent to reveal their true colors and #RegisterGreen! By registering Green, you will be sending a powerful message to your local, state and federal representatives, that it's time to put people, peace, and the planet over profit!
NOW is not the time to capitulate, give up, or stand back. If the COVID-19 crisis has taught us anything, it's that solidarity, compassion, and commitment benefit everyone on the planet. We know what we can achieve when we allow our values and principles to guide our actions.
NOW is the time to encourage our government(s) to take even bolder steps in protecting everyone by providing Improved Medicare For All, housing as a human right, living wage jobs, safe & healthy communities, and a just and equitable transition to 100% renewable energy by 2030 (aka the Green Party's Green New Deal). So on Earth Day 2020, take a stand with us: register Green and invite a friend to do the same!
