Request for volunteers

The EcoAction Committee helps coordinate efforts by the Green Party in the United States to impact on ecological issues and to assist Green Party electoral candidates in raising such issues. The EcoAction Committee members are appointed by state Green Parties (up to 3 per state) and by national GP caucuses.

SAN FRANCISCO – Ever since the historic labor movement culminating in Chicago's 1886 Haymarket Riot and the commemorating of May Day as International Workers Day, capitalists have pushed back against workers' rights and safety, and their ability to organize.

Other moments in history brought the labor movements' struggle to intersect other critical movements such as when Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. went to Memphis to support the African American sanitation workers' efforts to unionize and their strike in protest of low wages, unsafe work conditions, and their abusive white bosses. The picket signs they carried stated the simple message: “I Am A Man.”

March 9, 2021 – The EcoAction Committee assists Green Party organizing at local, state and national levels around environmental issues, as well as supporting Green candidates. We plan in 2021 to expand our educational and organizing efforts, such as organizing regular web forums. WASHINGTON — The Green Party of the United States EcoAction Committee has joined hundreds of other climate groups in urging President-elect Biden to take bold executive action on day one of his administration to treat climate change as a national emergency.

Howie Hawkins, the 2020 Green Party presidential candidate, condemned the appointment of Cedric Richmond to lead the White House Office of Public Engagement with business and the climate movement.

"With the appointment of Richmond, Biden just told the climate movement there will be no honeymoon with the new administration," Hawkins said.

The Republicans lie about the harm they do to the planet, and the Democrats lie and pretend they're not doing the very same things. 

In recent weeks a combination of drought and record breaking heat have accelerated wildfire season to historic levels of devastation. More than 4.6 million acres have burned in the states of California, Oregon and Washington. Skies are colored orange and red, the air is unbreathable, lives have been lost and entire towns have been destroyed.

COCOA BEACH, Fl — Worse wildfires. Fewer but stronger hyper-hurricanes that ride in slower on higher seas, causing more severe flooding. Coral that dissolves and shellfish that can’t form shells in oceans of increasing acidity. And more toxic algae.

Those dire predictions are why young people worldwide have been skipping class, and demanding governments take action. But are their worries well-founded, and what's the climate future hold for Florida? Some students feel the Sunshine State is already feeling the heat.

DOYLESTOWN, Pa – The Bucks County Green Party has endorsed and will support a local Climate Strike event to be held in Doylestown PA, following the lead of the Green Party of the United States in endorsing national and global climate strike actions in September being led in the U.S. by the Sunrise Movement.

On Sunday, September 22nd, Bucks Students for Climate Action and Protection of the Environment (BSCAPE) is calling youth and adults alike to march in Doylestown.

Howie Hawkins, who is seeking the Green Party presidential nomination, today urged the next president to declare a Climate Emergency on the first day in office.

Hawkins pointed out: "By declaring the climate crisis a national emergency, the president is empowered by existing laws to address the climate crisis without congressional approval. Congressional, presidential, Pentagon and intelligence reports and policy documents have identified climate change as a national security threat since 1990. It is time for immediate action to confront climate chaos."
