Black Lives Matter

From our platform ...

We understand that until significant steps are taken to reverse the ongoing abuses; to end the criminalization of the Black and Brown communities, to eradicate poverty, to invest in education, health care and the restoration and protection of human rights, that it will be impossible to repair the continuing damage wrought by the ideology of white supremacy which permeates the governing institutions of our nation.

From the mission statement of the Black Caucus of the Green Party of the United States ...

The mission of the Black Caucus of the Green Party of the United States is to maximize the participation of men and women of African and African American descent in the political and policy-making process of the Green Party of the United States. It is further to introduce the Ten Key Green Values and the Green Party Platform to the African American community. The mission of GPUS Black Caucus is to increase the participation and election victories in United States electoral politics of African and African Americans who support the GPUS Platform, and to ensure that the GPUS conducts and implements programs that concretize its platform in the interests of communities of African-American and African descent addressing community needs and disparities.

WARRENVILLE, IL – We are Green. We commit to full and complete reparations to the African American community of this nation for the past four hundred plus years of genocide, slavery, land-loss, destruction of original identity and the stark disparities which haunt the present evidenced in unemployment statistics, substandard and inadequate education, higher levels of mortality including infant and maternal mortality and the practice of mass incarceration. We recognize that reparations are a debt (not charity) that is owed by our own and other nations and by the corporate institutions chartered under our laws to a collective of people.

  • National Black Caucus Live-stream

A conversation with the National Black Caucus (NBC) and invited guests including trans activists, trans men and trans women and allies to have an open and honest dialogue of issues facing Black Trans people in relation to issues facing the wider Black community. There have been many issues facing the trans community and facing Black people; we have noticed that discussions about trans inclusion and issues often fail to include the voices of Black trans women and men and often fail to include Black perspectives in the wider communities, especially in community spaces.

PITTSBURGHStop the Station is a coalition of local activist groups fighting for police accountability in the city of Pittsburgh, PA. It was initially formed in the summer of 2020 to fight the relocation of the Zone 5 Police Station to East Liberty at a cost of $3 million. There was a backlash from the community to the project and to the city’s lying that the decision was by popular demand. Since then, Stop the Station has gained much support and momentum. The Green Party of Allegheny County (GPOAC) is a member of Stop the Station’s Community Control Coalition.

  • “An opportunity to discuss resistance against oppression has been turned into a substance-free feel good day.”

Juneteenth has become the latest iteration of liberal capture of Black politics, opportunistic virtue signaling, and the intentional misrepresentation of America’s history.

SOUTH DEERFIELD, MA – The Green-Rainbow Party (GRP) honors JuneteenthJuneteenth.gif 2021, the first year the holiday is officially recognized in Massachusetts. Juneteenth arose out of the celebrations on June 19, 1865, when the slaves of the last Confederate holdout were officially freed in Galveston Texas. It was the starting point, but nowhere near the finish line for true equality of all Americans.

The GRP Co-chairs would like to acknowledge and honor the following persons who contributed to the well-being, prosperity and freedom of all Americans.

  • Celebrate Freedom & Pride

San Jose, CA – Juneteenth is the oldest nationally celebrated commemoration of the ending of slavery in the United States. It is a time for joy and celebration, and it's also time it is finally made a U.S. holiday, something that may happen with the unanimous passage of a Senate resolution on June 15, 2021 establishing June 19 as Juneteenth National Independence Day.

On the anniversary of George Floyd's death, here is a recent press release written by Green Party of Philadelphia GPoP City Committee member Justin Bell reacting to the Derek Chauvin verdict.

I was sitting in traffic today on Roosevelt boulevard when the verdict came in: Derek Chauvin was found guilty of murdering George Floyd. When I heard it I had trouble processing it. It wasn’t until my wife called me crying because she couldn’t believe it was real, that I started to believe it was real. After I got off I looked around to see if any other cars were listening or having reactions. I was disappointed that everyone looked miserable and wasn’t honking. For a moment I felt victorious. Overwhelmed by the power of the people who refused to get out of the way when the police told them to move. I saw two older ladies flanked by the National Guard during the height of COVID. One pushing the other in a wheelchair. They had put themselves in a situation of great risk and they had won.

Anniversary of the Murder Of George Floyd, MN Green Party Demands Reforms Now!

The murder of George Floyd by former Minneapolis police officer Derek Chauvin — who has been convicted of murder — and the response by the community afterward shook the world. The Green Party of Minnesota is glad that the family of George Floyd will visit the White House. However, some of our members would feel more safe going to work, having their children play, going to school, and raising children in Minnesota and across the United States if the state and the federal government would pass meaningful legislation for Black Americans.

  • Despite The Quickening Decline Of The "West," The US And Its Junior Partners In Imperialism Are Determined To Hold Humanity Hostage To Terminal Capitalist Greed And Violence.

  • "Biden labels himself an 'Atlanticist' — shorthand for a white supremacist."

The world is shocked by the image of an eleven-story residential building in Gaza collapsing from a bomb dropped by the Israeli Defense Force, one of the most advanced armies in the world thanks to U.S. support. But in the U.S., Andrew Yang, former presidential candidate and now candidate for mayor of New York, proudly proclaims that he stands with the heroic people of Israel who are under attack from the vicious, occupied Palestinians who have no army, no rights, and no state.

ALBANY, NY – The Upper Hudson Green Party thoroughly condemns the assault and arrest of peaceful protesters at Albany’s South Station.

We stand in solidarity with the grassroots Black Lives Matter movement to confront and end police violence, repression, and murder against the working class and communities of color.
