While the Green Party won't be selecting our presidential nominee until July of 2020, the race for the 2020 Green Party presidential nomination has already begun. The Presidential Campaign Support Committee has published the documentation for those seeking our nomination. The PCSC also maintains a document listing those seeking our nomination.

At this point in the nomination process, the following candidates have met basic criteria for official recognition by the Green Party of the United States. They are Howie Hawkins, Dario Hunter and David Rolde.

The national Green Party is committed to maintaining a neutral stance towards those seeking our nomination. The individual campaigns are responsible for supplying the material that appears below and a posting does not imply endorsement or approval of the content by any Green Party entity.

No War on Iran! No War on Venezuela! No War on Migrants!

DAVID ROLDE, WEDNESDAY, JULY 17, 2019 This is a transcript of the speech I gave at the July 13, 2019, anti-war rally at Park Street Boston. Hello everyone. I’m glad to be out here protesting against the wars. I want to thank UNAC, the United National Antiwar Coalition, for initiating this call to action for protests this weekend. I want to thank all my comrades out here from different organizations, and individuals. We all know that these U.S. imperialist wars are horrible and we stand up in opposition. The war against migrants here, most of whom are indigenous people of these American continents, and the war against Black or African people here. The imperialist wars against Iran and Syria and Palestine, Iraq, Yemen, Lebanon, Somalia, Libya, Afghanistan, Sudan, Congo and other nations in the so-called Middle East and in Africa. The imperialist wars against Venezuela and Honduras, Nicaragua, Guatemala, El Salvador, Cuba, Colombia, Haiti and other nations in Latin America. These wars are one big U.S. imperialist war against the people of the world. It is outrageous and it has got to stop. Continue reading

Howie Hawkins officially recognized as Green Party presidential candidate

Howie Hawkins of New York has just become the first person to receive official recognition from the Green Party as a candidate for the 2020 Green Party presidential nomination. Hawkins has been involved with the Green Party since its beginning in 1984. He ran for governor of New York State three times (2010, 2014, 2018), securing four years of ballot access for the NY State Green Party each time. In 2014, he received 5 percent of the vote, the most for an independent left party candidate for governor in New York in a century. In 2010 he became the first candidate in the United States to campaign for a “Green New Deal”. Continue reading

Howie Hawkins: 'Close the Camps: End the Abuse of Immigrants, Enact Humane Immigration Policies'

Update: U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement officials plan to launch nationwide raids and arrest thousands of undocumented immigrants as soon as this weekend. Reportedly, 2,000 immigrants who have been ordered deported by the federal government will be targeted. Agents will also reportedly arrest people who happen to be on the scene, even if they weren't the target of the raids. These so-called "collateral" deportations could include entire families. Officials said they will be held in detention centers together, where possible. Continue reading

Thinking about freedom

By Dennis Lambert - On the 4th of July weekend when we are celebrating our freedom from British Imperial rule 243 years ago, we should be thinking about Freedo For nearly 100 years, the US Government has waged a war on drugs that has stolen freedom from millions of Americans. The lies about the effective use of cannabis for medical conditions began under Harry Anslinger in the 1930s. Continue reading

Stonewall at 50, time to recommit to action for equal rights

Today, June 28, 2019, is the 50th anniversary of the Stonewall Uprising that sparked the militant gay liberation movement and was the seed of PRIDE festivals and widespread advocacy for LGBTQIA rights. Today, we commemorate Stonewall and commit to continuing to work for equal rights for all. The Howie Hawkins 2020 campaign stands in solidarity with people seeking equal justice under law and for a society that is accepting and welcoming of the entire spectrum of human gender and sexuality. We oppose prejudice on any front including toward that continuum of sexuality, which our culture is only beginning to understand. Continue reading

US path to war in Iran must be reversed

The escalation of conflict between the US and Iran is at a fever pitch. It is time for the United States to recognize that war with Iran would be a multi-trillion dollar disaster that would lead to chaos and destruction in the region, would isolate the United States from the world diplomatic community even further, and would be another major foreign policy disaster. The way to a peaceful and positive relationship between the US and Iran requires the United States to reverse mistaken decisions and long history of imperialism against Iran. Continue reading

Unequal Protection Under Law, Dennis Lambert for President 2020

Democrats were holding their collective breaths for the Mueller Report to be completed and submitted since the appointment of the Special Council anticipating that President Trump would be charged with anything (No collusion!) and everything their wildest dreams permitted. Despite the obvious evidence of obstruction of justice by the President and those he has appointed, there is still no accountability for those crimes. It is likely nothing will come of the recent press conference by Robert Mueller who explained he was following tradition: that he could not charge a sitting president with a crime. Now that a long-time criminal toady has been appointed as Attorney General, there is no crime the Trump Administration can’t get away with. Continue reading

Sanders' "Socialism" is old-fashioned liberalism

Give Bernie Sanders props for popularizing the term “socialism.” It used to be a conversation stopper. Now it is a conversation starter. But Sanders isn’t helping the socialist cause by confusing it with the old New Deal liberalism of FDR. As Norman Thomas, the Socialist Party’s 1936 presidential candidate, famously quipped in a radio address, “Roosevelt did not carry out the Socialist platform, unless he carried it out on a stretcher.” Continue reading
