Cheri Honkala files lawsuit in federal court for a new election
I wanted to send you an update on the status of the special election in the 197th district. On Thursday, we filed a lawsuit in federal court.
The lawsuit asks the court to void the March 21st election because of widespread voter intimidation and election fraud tactics, that those in violation of election code are held accountable, and that a new, fairly-run election be held within 90 days.

Green Party Candidate Sues For Inclusion On Special Congressional Election Ballot
39 year-old Thomas Breck of Missoula is the Green Party candidate for the Congressional seat vacated by Ryan Zinke, who was recently confirmed as Secretary of the Interior.
Breck, the father of three, is a carpenter and a student at the University of Montana. He explains why the Green Party has had to sue to be included on the special election ballot set for May 25.

Earlier today Samuel C. Stretton sent notice to the Philadelphia Elections Commission his intention to file suit in Federal Court to void Tuesday's Special Election in North Philadelphia. Hawkins anticipates run for mayor of Syracuse, his third in as many decades
It's not official yet, but Syracuse Green Party stalwart Howie Hawkins expects to join the crowded field running for the mayor of Syracuse. Hawkins hopes the third time could be the charm in his races for mayor; this will be the third decade in a row if he chooses to enter the race.
"In the '90s it was a struggle to get on the ballot and even get in the debates," Hawkins says. "We were not taken seriously by the media, the public thought we were Greenpeace, not the Green Party. By the 2000s we got in the debates, and people thought we had some good ideas, and our votes started rising."

The incumbent, Leslie Acosta, resigned early in January when reports finally surfaced that she had pled guilty LAST MARCH on corruption charges. The previous incumbent was also forced to resign early due to a corruption conviction.
