The Passing of Green Party Leader Bill Holloway
The Green Party of Texas mourns the tragic loss of Bill Holloway. Bill was a dedicated leader who was currently serving as the Co-Chair of the Travis County Green Party in Austin, TX. He will be missed as a mentor and a friend.
Through his kind-hearted activism, Bill touched the lives of so many people. He was an active Green Party contributor at the local, state and national levels. Bill served on numerous committees in the Green Party and in other organizations as well.

Philip Hufford 1948 – 1998
Colorado Greens mourns the loss of one of their founding members, Philip Hufford, who passed away from cancer on October 3rd, 1998 at age 50.
Hufford was the first Colorado Green candidate for governor, in 1994. He chaired the Denver Region Greens for years and focused on toxic waste issues, particularly a U.S. Army chemical weapons site near Denver. His background with labor, and his experience as Rocky Mountain Regional Director of the Fair Trade Campaign in opposition to NAFTA a few years back, meant that he brought more organizing experience to the Greens than almost any other party member. His commitment to a broad conception of Green Politics was strong and is one of his legacies in Colorado Green politics.

Bob Long 1917 – 2010
Long-time Green organizer Bob Long passed away on January 27, 2010 at the age of 92. Especially active in the early years of the U.S. Green movement, Long played two particularly critical roles in its development. His calm manner, steady demeanor and personal stature provided a stable foundation and touchstone for formative Green organizing in the 1980s and early 1990s, especially in Southern California where he lived at the time. His commitment to spreading Green ideas through print and radio helped provide a theoretical and practical base to the growing Green movement, which was in the early stages of defining itself at that time.

Remembering Green Party Mayoral Candidate who was committed to a Baltimore with fair development
Yesterday, after a long fight with cancer, 2016 Green Party Mayoral candidate Emanuel McCray passed away. McCray, attended Milford Mill High School, was an active labor organizer and ran for mayor on a platform of fair development, with 5 core issues: quality jobs, permanently affordable housing, dependable public services, quality public schools, and community control of the police. McCray was 39 years old and leaves behind family and many friends. Joshua Harris released the following statement:

Green Party Mourns Death of David McReynolds
The Green Party of New York State today mourned the passing of David McReynolds at the age of 88, long-time anti-war activist, editor of the journal Liberation, Socialist Party USA presidential candidate in 1980 and 2000, and former Green candidate for US Senate in 2004. He was a longtime member of the War Resisters League, and helped organize one of the earliest draft-card burning protests against the Vietnam War. Party officials said McReynolds was an inspiring and dedicated advocate for peace and socialism, and that he would be greatly missed.

Md. Green Party candidate for U.S. Senate dies
A 30-year-old Green Party candidate for the U.S. Senate died late Monday night, less than two days after she was hit by a car while riding her bicycle in the Largo area, authorities said.
Maryland State Police said Natasha Pettigrew died at a Prince George's Hospital Center at 10:30 p.m. Monday. She had been critically injured on Route 202 about 5:30 a.m. Sunday while training for a triathlon, police said.

Dona Spring
Activists across the country mourn the loss of Dona Spring, the longest serving Green Party office holder in California. She held a seat on the Berkeley City Council for 16 years. Despite her long-term struggle with Rheumatoid Arthritis, she was determined to be a voice for the unrepresented and was a formidable force for change in the political arena. Spring died on July 13th at the age of 55.
Spring was first elected to Berkeley City Council in 1992 representing District 4. This was the second longest continuous term for a Green in the entire country. In 2006 she was re-elected by a resounding margin. From the local to the international level, she addressed issues with equal dedication and intelligence. In addition to advocating for tenants, youth, the disabled, and victims of war, she even came out to rally with protesters at the University of California to protect trees despite her worsening health.

Morgen Victoria D’Arc
Morgen Victoria D’Arc passed away July 24, 2018, at the Barron Center in Portland, Maine following a prolonged illness. Morgen was born in Philadelphia to Solomon Meyer Berman and Lilly Gottlieb Berman and was one of seven siblings. Morgen was an avid swimmer, biker and walker.
Morgen was an unforgettable member of our human family with a wide variety of interests and talents. A passionate seeker and creator, she dug deeply into many aspects of the human puzzle to better understand and assist humanity in its evolution.

Richard Walton, 1928 – 2012
Richard Walton died last week. He is an important part of our history as a party. He was always, from the getgo of our party and before, deeply wanting there to be a strong third party in the United States. As part of this, he ran for Vice President for the Citizens Party in 1984, a precursor of the Green Party. Sonia Johnson was the party’s presidential candidate that year. He helped found the Rhode Island Green Party several years later. Together with Tony Affigne and Greg Gerritt and others from that state, he also helped in founding the Association of State Green Parties in 1996/7/8.
