SACRAMENTO (February 6, 2008) - Two-time Green Party presidential candidate Ralph Nader won the Green Party presidential primary here Tuesday - despite not yet being a declared candidate. He outdistanced six rivals (including two who had already withdrawn) in what was the most competitive Green Party presidential primary ever. Voters who hoped to participate in the Illinois' first ever statewide Green Party primary are receiving a very rude reception at many polling places, especially in Chicago. In the early hours of voting, Green Party officials began receiving reports from frustrated voters across the state who, in many cases, had been told by pollworkers that there are no Green Party ballots available at their polling places, or that they had to vote on suspect electronic voting machines, even while other parties use paper ballots. The six candidates are seeking the nomination of the Green Party in the 2008 race for the White House. The nomination will be decided by about 800 delegates from state parties who will gather at the Green Party's national convention in Chicago, Illinois, July 10-13. NEW YORK, NY - Alison Duncan, the Green Party of New York State's 2006 candidate for Lieutenant Governor, gave Governor Eliot Spitzer a failing grade of "F" today on 25 Green Party challenges issued last January for his first year in office.
