Green Party of Virginia state meeting wrap-up
On May 19th, 2018 the Green Party of Virginia gathered in Blacksburg on the campus of Virginia Tech for its state party meeting. 12 Greens attended in-person with an additional 15 attending remotely. The meeting went smoothly, and we completed all our agenda items in just over two hours. Following the meeting, we gathered in Haymarket Theater for a panel discussion on the Mountain Valley and Atlantic Coast pipelines. The panel was organized by Steven Gillespie, chair of the New River Valley Greens, and moderated by Dr. Emily Satterwhite, a professor in Appalachian Studies at Virginia Tech.

2018 State Assembly for Maryland Greens – June 30
Join us for the Maryland Green Party's annual State Assembly on June 30th. Our 2018 host is the Howard County Green Party, holding the assembly in Elkridge, Maryland. The event will take place from 11:00 am to 5:00 pm at the Elkridge Library.
We will have a selection of speakers, most notably former Co-chair Ian Schlakman and HUD RAB delegate Rev. Annie Chambers, who are running for Governor and Lt. Governor respectively. There will also be group discussions, panels, and workshops.

North Carolina Green Party Spring Gathering in Asheville
The North Carolina Green Party (NCGP) statewide Spring Gathering will be Friday evening May 18 through Sunday afternoon May 20 in Asheville and will be held at The Block Off Biltmore, 39 S. Market St., Asheville. NCGP members and nonmember supporters are both encouraged to attend.
This event is free and open to the public. Donations to the NCGP are welcome at our Donate Page to help cover expenses.

Four State and Local Green Parties to hold annual conventions this weekend
A full weekend of Green Party annual conventions begins this evening, Thursday, May 15 in Syracuse, New York as the Ononadga County Green Party holds it's annual convention.
The Green Party of New York and the Green Party of Virginia meet on Saturday, while the Maine Green Independent Party meets on Sunday.

Green Party of Virginia State Meeting – May 19
The afternoon portion of the Green Party of Virginia State Meeting will feature a panel discussion on the pipeline(s) with many experts. You can go to the facebook page for a quick overview. The panel is free and open to the public. Parking will be most convenient at the Squires lot on college avenue behind Squires Student Center. Parking is free as it is a weekend. Downtown parking will also be free.

The Maine Green Independent Party will hold it's 2018 Annual Convention on Sunday, May 20th. The convention will take place at the Viles Arboretum in Augusta.
We will be presenting our wonderful Maine Green Party candidates for you to hear and meet and learn how you can help with their campaigns and perhaps run in the future yourselves. This year you can vote on Party Bylaws and Platform.

CALL TO ACTION: March for Palestine
New York City – On Monday, May 14, Israeli forces killed at least 58 Palestinians in Gaza and wounded thousands. Today's march is the response to the near-culmination of the historic #GreatReturnMarch, where for six weeks, tens of thousands of Palestinians — families, children, elders — have been gathering along the fence that keeps 2 million people penned in in an open air prison.
In grief and rage, we will mourn those who have been killed. With respect and inspiration, we will amplify the demands of Palestinians: the right to live in freedom and dignity, and the right to return home.
