WHEATON, IL – Justice is something for which we constantly struggle but only occasionally obtain in the U.S. legal system. Once in a while, though, we get a measure of it. And we are pleased to announce that this just occurred in the lawsuit we recently filed in federal court in the Northern District of Illinois. As explained in the last newsletter from the Illinois Green Party, Illinois has among the most repressive ballot access laws in the nation, requiring so-called “new” parties to gather 25,000 petition signatures from registered voters, in just 90 days, in order to get their candidates’ names on the November ballot. We have achieved that monumental task a number of times in the last 20 years. PHILADELPHIA – Private citizens currently own ninety-three percent of the subsurface mineral rights in Allegheny National Forest (ANF) in northwest Pennsylvania. On a recent visit to ANF, we found oil and gas wells, tanks of all sorts, hoses draining who knows what into the soil and air. Large cleared areas for well pads. Roads all through -- some relatively safe, some very much not. We found wells actively pumping, and wells long abandoned. Continue reading

The Green Party of New York has taken this into consideration so the 2020 presidential preference vote will be conducted by absentee ballot instead of an in-person State Party Nominating Convention.  All GPNY Members (enrolled New York State Greens and Supporting Members legally barred from registering to vote) are invited to participate in our presidential preference vote by absentee ballot. MADISON, WI – The Wisconsin Green Party 2020 Spring membership vote, including our Presidential nomination, is open from now until Tuesday, April 21 at 11:59 p.m. There are 3 things on the ballot: the Green Party Presidential nomination vote, election of WIGP delegates to the Green Party US Presidential Nominating Convention, and a proposed amendment to the WIGP bylaws to lower the party's voting threshold from two-thirds to 60%. Loosen the rules for early voting Suspend signature gathering HARTFORD, CT – The Green Party of Connecticut has long been an advocate for more democratic and more representative balloting laws in Connecticut, as we are an advocate for the broadest possible enfranchising of Connecticut residents.
