May Day March & Rally
ALBANY, NY – The Upper Hudson Green Party invites you to a rally with speakers at Albany Medical Center on May 1 beginning at 1:00 p.m. in a show of solidarity with the nurses' struggle for a fair contract and PPE. The rally will be followed by a short march at 3:00 p.m. to the Washington Park Amphitheater where live music and poetry will be performed with public speakers and space for organizations to table and advertise their relevant causes.

The waterway is a lifeline for the people of Vieques and Culebra
On April 2nd while Catholics worldwide observed Good Friday, the people of Culebra and Vieques took to the streets to protest the maritime transportation system.The outcry for justice echoed "We want transportation with dignity and efficiency" "The waterway is our road, it is not luxury" and "We denounce inhumanity and unite our hands". The islands of Culebra and Vieques are part of the archipelago of islands that constitute Puerto Rico, which has been a colony of the United States for the past 123 years.

The Green Party often co-sponsors rallies such as these, joining in the fight for better working conditions, but we rarely get invited to share the podium because of deep seated fears of independent politics. Politics that doesn’t go along with the status quo, the two-party system or in this city -- let’s be real -- a one-party system.

Green Party celebrates MRTA's historic passage while calling for true legalization
ALBANY, NY – 3/31/21 - Green Party of New York officers celebrated the passage of the Marijuana Regulation and Taxation Act (MRTA) as the culmination of a decades-long struggle by activists and communities to allow for legal sales of cannabis and to begin the process of rebuilding spaces ravaged by the failed Drug War. Party leaders said the organization had always proudly been on the front lines of the struggle for marijuana legalization. Party spokespeople also said they hoped the flaws of MRTA would be addressed soon, and that New York would follow Oregon's lead and decriminalize all drugs.
