PA Green Party fights against election fraud

PHILADELPHIA – On July 14, the U.S. Court for the Eastern District of PA, ruled against the Green Party’s request for a temporary waiver of some ballot access requirements. The Green Party of Pennsylvania (GPPA) Steering Committee is calling for volunteers and launching a two-week flurry of petition activity to place Green candidates on the ballot. The Green Party had sought relief from the Court before the August 3 deadline for nominating petitions, but the Court ruled that granting relief during a deadly global pandemic would “seriously and irreparably harm the State.” Continue reading

Greens Blast NYC Budget Capitulation

NEW YORK CITY – Green Party officers responded to the passage of New York City's FY 2021 budget with the following statement: "In the face of a massive month-long social uprising demanding the end of police violence against Black and Brown communities and a massive reduction in the NYPD budget, the Mayor and City Council instead used accounting tricks to maintain funding for the department, while attempting to claim otherwise," said Chris Archer, chair of the Green Party of New York County. "We are disgusted by the half-truths and lies emanating from city government, and the continued police violence against our communities as well as peaceful protesters. In a time when the elimination of 22,000 city jobs is being proposed, the Mayor and City Council's refusal to cut the NYPD shows where their priorities lie: maintaining a police state above all else." Why I'm Green

When Ralph Nader ran for president in 2000, I was made aware of the Green Party. I had been a follower of Nader for decades. He was instrumental in the passage of the Clean Water Act, the Freedom of Information Act and other legislation. Through Public Citizen, he shed light on many issues and educated the public on civic responsibility. I circulated a petition and collected 100 signatures to put Nader on the Pennsylvania ballot. It was my first action in electoral politics other than voting. I learned of the Green Party values of democracy, social justice, non violence and environmental protection. I became a Green. Philly Green Party joins call to defund police

PHILADELPHIA – On March 23, the members of the Green Party of Philadelphia (GPOP) announced their endorsement of the Black Lives Matter (BLM) movement as well as the protests that are a response to the murder of George Floyd. They encouraged people to get in the street and make their voices heard. However, they also asked participants to take precautions. Please be sure to follow all social distancing guidelines (6 feet apart, wear a mask, hand sanitize). The spread of COVID-19 is still a primary concern, though the need for social justice takes precedence. As Maya Angelou said, “The truth is, no one of us can be free until everybody is free.” Continue reading
