The Green New Deal New York Needs, From Its Original Source
In outlining his agenda for the first 100 days of his third term, Governor Cuomo said in December he would launch a Green New Deal. I have been calling for a Green New Deal since 2010 in three Green Party gubernatorial campaigns against him.
Cuomo has already nominally adopted a number of my platform planks, including the fracking ban, marriage equality, a $15 minimum wage, tuition-free public college, paid family leave, and legalization of marijuana. Unfortunately, the implementation of some of these measures fall short of full realization and the same appears to be true for what will be Cuomo's Green New Deal.

Welcome to Paradise
In 1970, Joni Mitchell recorded the song, "Big Yellow Taxi." "Don't it always seem to go / That you don't know what you've got til its gone. / They paved paradise, put up a parking lot."
In 2018, the town of Paradise, and much more, burned to the ground.

Time to Rise Up ...
2019 must be a year of uprising and action. We must collectivly come together and take to the streets. We must organize, we must strategize, we must look at what must be done to change the tide of where things are going in this country and globally. Many things are looming on the horizon. Economists are telling us that an economic collapse is on the horizon, perhaps as soon as the end of 2019 if not sooner.

Hillary simply lost Black votes because of her own arrogance
Adam Peck, editor of ThinkProgress, obviously doesn't accept that the duopoly system has gone into self-destruct mode, nor that the Democratic Party has abandoned all pretense at being a force for progress. Instead he blames its woes on Jill Stein and the Green Party. His ThinkProgress article of December 22 begins:

I just want to go back to work
I am a federal employee in Ogden Utah. I have a lot of backlogged bills and am receiving foreclosure notices. Although the shutdown was not the cause of some of my financial issues, it is making it difficult for me to consider financial options. I am the primary bread winner in my home so removing my income creates multiple struggles. I am having to ask family members and friends for money.

General Motors' Factories Should Not Be Closed. They Should Be Turned Over to the Workers
It's become something of a shopworn cliché to say that "for every problem, there's an opportunity." However, I submit that this adage might well apply to General Motors' November 26th announcement that it will be eliminating more than 14,000 jobs and closing seven factories worldwide by the end of next year, including four factories in the U.S. and one in Canada.

Yet another win for election integrity!
More great news! We just got a court decision in Wisconsin that we can proceed with a groundbreaking examination of voting machine software, without a gag rule that voting machine corporations had sought. They had hoped to prevent us from making any public disclosure about what we discover.
This is a critical victory for everyone concerned with the integrity of our elections, and we accomplished it together. Please help build the momentum for elections we can trust by sharing this great news on Facebook and Twitter!

Federal Shutdown Report from Inyo County
I am a Forest Service worker affected by the shut down. While I am a little better off than many of my coworkers because I have a fewer bills to pay I am still affected by the shut down due to not having pay perhaps for another couple or three weeks. If we don't get back to work by Tuesday the eighth then we won't get paid on the 14th.
But outside of how it affects me personally the damage that is being done to our national parks especially Yosemite and Joshua Tree is immense. Thankfully here and Inyo county, Death Valley, we have volunteers and we are further away from the centers of population so at the moment I think Death Valley is doing OK.

2018: The Year Greens Showed They Can Win
Chris Alders of the Green Party of Canada has compiled a series of successes by Green Parties around the world in 2018 and I added a couple of more. The successes show Greens can win. My sense is that despite the structural obstacles we face in the United States, if we face up to our internal shortcomings and build a serious political party that represents movement issues, the working class, poor and middle class and is diverse by race, gender, and age, and clearly stands as the independent, opposition to the two Wall Street parties, we will start to win. And, once we start, momentum will rapidly grow because people want a viable alternative to two corporate parties they see as corrupt.

Murphy wrong on support for Israel
I applaud your publishing Michael Galant's excellent (Nov. 18) essay, "Chris Murphy wants a new foreign policy." As Murphy's constituent, so do I.
Still, I couldn't agree more with Galant about Murphy's bellicose attitude toward Palestinians and apparent veneration of a Zionist Israel. Consider a 2015 press release issued on Murphy's becoming a ranking member of the Mideast Subcommittee of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, in which he says:
