The fight against Line 3 continues

Opponents of the oil project have explained: "If built, Line 3 would carry dirty tar sands oil through critical ecological and cultural resources including Ojibwe treaty land, wild rice lakes, and the headwaters of the Mississippi River, as well as enabling expanded development of tar sands, one of the most climate-polluting fuels on the planet." ~ Gabby Brown with Sierra Club Line 3 Continue reading

The Green Party fights on

The election is over, but the Green Party fights on! Greens in New York did not meet the new, unfair threshold to retain ballot status in New York State. That's the bad news. The good news is, we are not going anywhere. We have teamed with the New York Libertarian Party to sue the State over this law slipped into the 2020 budget and we have filed for an injunction to stop any changes to party status until the suit is settled. Tune in to this interview with Green Party of New York Co-chair, Gloria Mattera, on where we are and what is happening. Continue reading

Green Party of Virginia statement on the 2020 presidential election results

The Green Party of Virginia wishes to thank our members and allies across the state for voting Green for Howie Hawkins and Angela Walker during the 2020 election. Every vote for the Green Party sent the message to the two-party establishment that we refuse to give away our power to a system that does not represent our values. As Hawkins said, we refused to get "lost in the sauce." Continue reading

Election results & future actions

Green Post-Election Reflections More than 12 days after Election Day, vote counts continue in Santa Clara County, California and the rest of the country. Although Trump has been defeated, it's been a very tight race for both major parties' presidential tickets and definitely not a victory for the Democrats in general. The fact that they could not easily "override" a candidate as repugnant as the U.S. President - and still do not understand his appeal to the million of people who voted for him - speaks volume. They are completely disconnected from the masses who've helped put them in power and seem light-years away from their daily struggles, economic anxiety, absence of affordable healthcare, food and housing insecurity, and much, much more. This op-ed by Bhaskar Sunkara in The Guardian explains why the menace of a far worse political figure than Donald Trump in four years remains very real. Continue reading
