Green Party Says Democrats Need to Stop Blocking Marijuana Legalization

ALBANY, NY 2/23/21 - The Green Party of New York said today it was time for the Democrats to finally deliver on their call to legalize marijuana, a position the Greens have advocated for decades. The Greens said that while the legislative proposal was better than the Governor's, both fell far short of true legalization. The Green Party agrees with the Michelle Alexander paradigm that the drug laws created the New Jim Crow. The Greens want to repeal all cannabis laws. Continue reading

Connecticut Green Party responds to Gov. Lamont's "unimaginative" budget

Lamont's budget sells out working people, democracy, and the planet; Green Party of Connecticut says "Tax the rich, free the people, save the planet" HARTFORD, CT – Like most working people in Connecticut, we in the Green Party of Connecticut are disappointed but not surprised by the lackluster, unimaginative, business-as-usual tone of Governor Lamont's proposed budget. Imagination is fostered by freedom, and any plan for Connecticut's future that prioritizes keeping rich people safe from paying their fair share of taxes will begin its political life bound hand and foot to the status quo. Here in the Northern Hemisphere, we eagerly anticipate the arrival of spring, when plants and animals emerge from a long, cold winter, reminding us all of our natural resiliency. Additionally, countries around the world (regardless of hemisphere) observe International Women’s Day on March 8, an occasion whose roots extend back over a century, beginning with a declaration of the day from the Socialist Party of America. This approach rejects the usual commercialized approach that replaces a process that is real and addresses the internalized roots of racism. We will also discuss the possibilities of using such an approach in our education system. The Latinx Caucus of the Green Party of the United States stands in solidarity with Amazon workers

The Latinx Caucus of the Green Party of the US stands in solidarity with Amazon workers seeking to unionize. It is indefensible that the largest retail company, owned by the richest man in the world, should deny its workers fair wages and a humane work environment. Amazon and companies like it will have a significant impact on how workers are treated in the cyber commerce of the future. Taking a stand now, to support workers as they demand fair and humane treatment and a living wage, will move us closer to setting a universal standard of human rights for workers. Continue reading
