Olivia Faison mounts a write-in campaign as a Green Party at-large candidate for Philadelphia's City Council

The Committee to Elect Olivia Faison, at-large Green Party candidate for Philadelphia's City Council, has officially filed for candidacy. Although dozens of volunteers collected well over a thousand signatures, Faison will not appear on the ballot on November 5th 2019. In order to access the ballot, Democratic and Republican candidates must gather only 1000 signatures for a City Council at-large campaign. Continue reading

Statement on the Shootings in El Paso Texas

The Latinx Caucus of the Green Party expresses our deepest sympathy to the victims of the deplorable shooting in El Paso Texas and their families. This shooting, yet another senseless act of violence that is part of an ongoing epidemic of gun violence, was focused towards Latinx who have repeatedly been vilified by President Donald Trump. The rhetoric of the President made the terrible violence that occurred in El Paso not just likely but inevitable. This was the inevitable result of a relentless dehumanizing of Latinx including those seeking safety at our southern border, those seeking to rebuild and strengthen their communities in Puerto Rico, and those seeking to share in the "American Dream" through fair access to education and jobs. Join us for our Summer Gathering this weekend, July 20–21, in Mebane

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – On Saturday, July 20, the North Carolina Green Party (NCGP) will begin its statewide Summer Gathering at the beautiful Seedbed venue in Mebane, just outside Durham and Chapel Hill. The Seedbed is the same location where we held our 2019 Winter Gathering and is the former location of the Stone House retreat center. Breakfast starts at 9:00 a.m., provided by the NCGP. The meeting is scheduled from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., with lunch provided by the NCGP. An onsite potluck dinner will follow the meeting, and we’ll show the documentary Wilmington on Fire after dinner. Continue reading

Bruce A. Dixon

Saturday, July 6th: Memorial Service for Bruce A. Dixon. Many following social media have heard by now that Bruce Dixon, cochair of the Georgia Green Party, co-chair of the Hawkins 2020 Presidential campaign, a founder and the Managing Editor of Black Agenda Report, husband, father, grandfather, lifelong socialist and mentor to many in the movement for a just peace, died yesterday after a three year long battle with leukemia.  Continue reading
