International Seeds Day
Organizations, activists and people from various professional and linguistic backgrounds will observe April 26 as International Seeds Day (ISD) advocating for patent-free seeds, organic food and farmers' rights. ISD will be an educational day for the public to learn about genetically modified food and its health hazardous effects and the agribusiness of major US and European companies and their monopoly over the agriculture in Africa and Asia with emphasis on India, Iraq and Afghanistan. It will be a day of solidarity with farmers in countries devastated by war (Afghanistan, Iraq & others) and of resistance.

Green Political Organizer to address 12th Annual Peace and Justice Gathering
Adrián Boutureira, the National Political Organizer of the Green Party of the United States, will be one of the keynote speakers at Saturday's 12th Annual Peace and Justice Gathering.
Adrian came to the US in 1973 following the consolidation of the brutal right wing military regime in his native country of Uruguay. He has since spent his adult life in the US engaged in the struggle for social justice: racial, economic and environmental justice, Latin American struggles, Palestinian Liberation, and human rights. Adrián supported Jill Stein for President, where he served as Field Director and Special Advisor on Palestinian and Latin American Affairs. He is presently serving as National Political Organizer for the Green Party, and lives in Austin.

Local Michigan parks commission passed a resolution opposing Nexus pipeline
The Ypsilanti, Michigan Township Park Commission passed a resolution on April 3 opposing the construction of the Nexus natural gas pipeline through Michigan
The Nexus pipeline is being constructed by Enbridge, Inc., a Canadian corporation. The pipeline will be used to distribute natural gas from the Appalachians to Ohio, Michigan, Illinois and Ontario. Natural gas would be supplied by fracking in the Appalachians, a process that will destroy sensitive natural areas. The majority of fracked gas will be going to Canada, and the pipeline has the potential to irreversibly destroy waterways that feed directly into the Great Lakes.

Greens continue to organize in New York State
With the presidential election months in the past, Green Party members in New York are continuing to organize and work towards forming new state party chapters.
The Hudson Valley Green Party is planning on holding an organizational meeting in June in Beacon, New York. They're planning on adopting bylaws and electing officers. The counties involved are Dutchess, Putnam, Westchester, Ulster and Orange.
