Green Party Response to Poverty in PA

Members of the Green Party of Pennsylvania (GPPA) were saddened by the recently released U.S. Census Bureau report showing persistent poverty across Pennsylvania. The data indicate that there were more than 1.5 million Pennsylvania citizens living in poverty over the past year. That's 12.5% of the population or 1 in 8 people. Continue reading

South Central Michigan Greens to Meet

The South Central Michigan Greens local will hold its monthly meeting 1:00  – 3:00 pm on Saturday, December 15 at the downtown Jackson Coffee Company (201 South Mechanic Street in Jackson). The agenda will recap some of the items discussed at the November 24 post-election meeting at the Biggby's Coffee location in Emmett Towmship, including news that the next Statewide Membership Meeting has been scheduled for March 10, 2019 at Muskegon Community College. Baltimore, MD – In 2007, a group of local activists led by former felons, went to Annapolis with a bill they had crafted entitled, the Voter Registration Protection Act, which restored voting rights to former felons upon completion of their court-ordered sentence. However, they continued fighting to expand the law even further, and in 2015 Out for Justice and others successfully got the Maryland General Assembly to extend that opportunity to anyone who was not currently incarcerated, which took effect in 2016.  Continue reading

Desiree Davenport, has won her seat for the Humboldt Community Services District in the final counts, making her the 4th elected Green Party candidate in Humboldt County. “I will speak up for working families and find solutions such as an affordable water program for our low-income residents, seek grants that taxpayers already fund for infrastructure repair and upkeep and reward ratepayers who are using water wisely,” Desiree said to the Tuluwat Examiner in an interview.
