WASHINGTON, D.C. -- The Green Party is calling for mass public resistance in reaction to President Trump's announcement that he is permitting the Dakota Access and Keystone XL pipelines to move forward. "The public protests, on-site camps, direct action, citizens' lobbying efforts, and law suits that persuaded President Obama to reject the KXL and halt the DAPL must resume, with appeals for congressional action to reverse President Trump's decision," said Robin Laverne Wilson, 2016 Green nominee for the U.S. Senate in New York and co-chair of the Green Party Black Caucus. Green Party Condemns Schumer's Vote for Torture-Supporter Pompeo

Albany – The Green Party of New York denounced Senator Schumer's Monday evening vote in favor of Mike Pompeo as CIA Director. Citing Pompeo's own statements that CIA officials who engaged in torture were "patriots" and that he would be open to altering a 2015 law prohibiting the government from using interrogation techniques not listed in the Army Field Manual, his portrayal of the "War on Terror" as a religious conflict between Muslims and Christians, claims that Islamic leaders are potentially complicit in terror because they don't speak against it, and appearances on anti-Muslim radio programs – Green officers questioned why New York's senior senator would vote to confirm Mr. Pompeo. Green Party Animal Rights committee commends activist success in shuttering Ringling Brothers

The Green Party Animal Rights Committee applauds activists for decades of pressuring Ringling Bros. Barnum & Bailey Circus to cease exploiting animals, resulting in the recent announcement that the circus will be shutting down in May. “This will be a welcome relief to the many hundreds of animals who have been stolen from the wild, imprisoned in cages, paraded in costumes, and trained to perform unnatural tricks for the purpose of amusing dwindling audiences,” said Mary Lawrence, co-chair of the GP Animal Rights Committee. Kenneth Field, Chairman and CEO of parent company Field Entertainment, cited declining ticket sales, high operating costs, elimination of elephants from the touring circus, and an increasingly negative public sentiment about forcing captive wild animals to perform as entertainment as factors in the decision to cease. Upper Hudson Green Party Statement of Support for Workers on Strike at Momentive Performance Materials

Albany – The Upper Hudson Green Party (UHGP) stands in solidarity with the workers of IUE-CWA Local 81359 on strike at the Momentive Performance Materials (MPM) plant in Waterford, NY. Noting the absolute greed of Leon Black, billionaire chair of Apollo Global Management – which controls MPM – in refusing to negotiate in good faith and instead hiring inexperienced scab workers who have presided over deadly chemical spills every 2.6 days, the UHGP called for a fair contract for the IUE-CWA workers. UHGP officers also noted the power of collective action and class struggle by workers and community members fighting against the corrosive effects of inequality and environmental assaults in late capitalist society, and the need to pass pro-labor legislation and radically transform society.
